Question about HP OfficeJet J4580 All-In-One Laser Printer

I can't manage to scan directly from the scanner

After I've installed HP Officejet J4580, everything worked properly except the scanner. I manage to scan only through my pc but directly from the printer I can't manage to scan from some reason. Every time that I try to scan an error appears with the following message :

NO SCAN OPTIONS. REFER TO DEVICE DOCUMENTATION TO TROUBLESHOOT.

I really appreciate if someone tells me if I can scan directly from the printer because I don't think so that in the printer there is an option and one can't use it.

Hello
Have you installed full software from the CD that came with the printer?
if not do that first, do you mean that you cant push printer button and automatic scan to computer?

try downloading the 2 firmware patches fro hp. go to www.hp.com select support, drivers and downloads, enter your printer model, and select your os. Halfway down the next page is the firmware section. Download and install.

SOURCE: When trying to scan to my HP J4580 Officejet J4580

this means the printer has not been configured to the computer,,
1st check the connection of the printer and the computer,,
then check if all the software like the basic print and scan drivers, hp solution center and the hp imaging device function had been installed or not,,
if all the above things had been checked then
open hp solution center,,
click settings,,
go to scan settings,,
select scan to set up.....,,
you will get two columns there,,
the left will be for the solution center and the right one will be for the printer,,
you will see two arrows in between the columns,,
populate the entries on the printer that is on the right column using the arrowes,,
once done click update device,,
then close the olution center and restart the printer,,
then check it will work................

Just check that can you scan from HP Solution Center, if yes. Then perform the steps given below to resolve the issue.

Open HP solution center:
CLick on settings:
select scan settings from settings.:
A Menu Appears.
select scan to setup:
a new page will appear:
you will see all options on the left side:
select all the options manually and click on the right arrow
to move all the options from left to right side.
after perfoming these steps.
Restart the printer:
and try scanning from printer now.
now will be able to scan from printer itself.

Kindly install the scanner software for printer the driver software cd just re install it will install the scanner software and make sure in device manger there is not other usb device listed if it is there just remove it. And refresh it in will automatically install the driver.

Hello,
If you are not getting scan options, make sure you have installed the scanning software along with your drivers.
Check in Control Panel / Scanners and Cameras and try to scan from there.

The manual for this printer is available here from HP, and it covers the scanning operations. You can also download the HP software here which will allow you to directly scan to your computer. If you don't use the HP software, you can use the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard to scan.

Try reinstalling the software and make sure you follow the directions, because usually you have to install the software first before plugging the printer into the computer

I had this problem too, and after a while just gave up on the uesless HP interface, and went to the simple but efficient Windows Fax and Scan program on the Start>Programs menu.

Scanner not scanning


u will need to download the installation driver from the cd to make the scanner work properly. as the printer drivers r loaded but the scanner drivers did not got loaded. check out this and reinstall the drivers.
