SOURCE: philips tv 27PT6441/37 horizontal lines about 3in wide on top of the screen.

I'm having the same issue with this TV! From the top of the screen to about two/three inches below there are thousands of horizontal lines with a whitish tinge which seem to be reflecting what is just below these lines! I’ve never seen this issue on any TV ever! From what I am seeing now is that many people are having this issue and more! We should put a class action lawsuit against them! If anyone knows anything, please post the info. Many tech forums are loaded with issues for these TV’s but this issue seems to be prominent!

My mom had two Phillips TV’s; one just under two years, and the other just under a year and Phillips refused to fix either without a large expenditure on her behalf. She told me never to buy Phillips and I should have listened. Phillips used to be a great company so I don’t really know what has happened? This was a TV for my Grandmother and it wasn't at a bad price not to mention the picture was great albeit severely over scanned.

As for her TV, we had it about two weeks over a year and Phillips said there was nothing they could do! They said they would pay for the cost to replace the tube if I took it to one of their dealers but they said the cost to bring it there and repair would fall on me! Also if the issue was not related to the tube I would have to pay everything OOP! The lady laughed on the phone and said even if it had been under six months or under a year they would still only pay to fix the parts and everything else would cost me! WTF?

The moral of the story is NEVER BUY PHILLPS/MAGNOVOX EVER! You might be getting the TV deal of the century but it is not worth it in the long run. I originally thought my mom was nuts, but now looking back considering the issues others are having, and realizing the **** poor way Phillips support deals with ALL problems, they’re simply not worth the money or trouble. I WILL NEVER buy another Phillips, Magnavox, or Funai product ever again, whether it is a TV, clock, DVD player, and/or ANY electronic device! If you do you HAVE BEEN WARNED and WILL BE SORRY!

SOURCE: My 27

It has gone into a self protect mode where it will shut down because you have a fault in the frame stage of the TV (horizontal line). This will most likely be a failure of the frame output IC. Replace this & you should restore the normal picture.

SOURCE: Picture displays horizontal roll

It's the Satellite Disk that is the problem. Just call the guy..

you can also try to unplug and plug it back in.

My tv made a little noise and then the picture disappeared. The screen is black with a vertical line of picture approx 1/4 inch wide going up the middle of the screen. Is it fixable?

Generally this is not good news. Even in the event this TV is repaired, it will work very long. This TV has a horizontal problem. This is the most stressed area of any conventional TV. The Horizontal Output Transistor will need replace, the flyback transformer is bad, you have bad power supply with horizontal capacitors that are bad, and last, is a possible bad picture tube. This TV is not worth the effort or money to repair. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

When I turn it on there is just a horizenal line. This is on a Mitsubishi cs 35 ax 1 35" from 1992

hi there, it seems you have problem with your VERTICAL IC, this is similar to all CRT I have repaired. horizontal lines in the middle huh! well the picture is deflected in the center of the screen. it shows your TV is oscillating. means it is good. the problem is that you cannot adjust the picture to occupy the whole monitor. By replacing the Vertical IC it will remedy the picture to view widely. the vertical IC has these many 8-10 pins and mounted on heat sink. Usually mine is serial with LA 7837. good luck on your troubleshooting, hope this help, please rate and vote.

1/2'' wide white horizontal line across tv about 2'' from top is on all the time and doesn't flicker at all. NEC 27" Standard TV

Does this happen when you are playing a video tape or just regular TV? It should not happen with DVDs. All I can say is the picture tube may be going bad, have the TV checked by a professional. Good luck to you!

Check for leaky capacitors in the vertical section of the TV or cold solder joints.
I would also check in the power supply.
Good Luck.
