Question about Frigidaire Optional Icemaker Kit
Model AD-18 (in a Kenmore) Two problems I believe may be related, FIRST: The fridge has had (for a couple of years) a leak in rear ceiling from some sort of vent that comes from the freezer (a very slow drip, would take a month to fill a shotglass). SECOND: This problem seemed to progress over the course of a few weeks.Stage 1: ice cubes fused together in cube catch drawer toward the back. Stg. 2: larger shield of ice forming inside bottom in rear of catch drawer.Stg. 3:Large icicles forming off bottom of ice maker AND minor flood on kitchen floor. Stg4: Giant ice layer on freezer floor (but no flood on kitchen floor, maybe I caught it before it could develop). The open trough that water flows through (in the hole in the back of the freezer) before it runs down into the ice maker is clear, no ice build up. Hope this is enough detail.

Check the fill tube for the ice maker and make sure it is in the correct place. This sounds like the fill tube has been moved and is running water into the freezer instead of the ice maker. Let me know what you find. I am here to help you.

You need to remove the bottom two baskets, or more to make space. Using a hairdryer, defrost the back area. You should be able to locate a drain hole in the center below the freezer coils. This drain hole is connected on the outside to a drainpipe which has a p trap and often gets blocked up. You need to force water down the drain hole. You can use a turkey baster or similar type of plunger filled with water. Once you have cleared the blockage pour hot water till it runs freely. Hope this sorts your problem, don't forget to rate me.
