We have a Rheem split A/C unit. Model kf-18c or kf-24c, The indoor unit will power off on its own, the outdoor unit remains on and the inside unit freezes up. To power off the system, we have to shut off at the circuit panel. Is there a part that i can replace to get us working again? Thank you, Thomas

It seems like the indoor fan is not running. Quite a few split systems have a fuse on the indoor board. It will require stripping off the outer cover of the indoor unit and removal of the electronic box cover. The indoor board is in there. The fuse may be replaceable or it may be a type that is soldered on which makes it virtually non replaceable. ( A new indoor board will be required) Make sure all power is turned off or disconnected before you do anything. Another possibility is the fan motor start capacitor has failed. Try this first before stripping the unit. When the unit is turned on and the outdoor unit has started, give the indoor fan barrel a flick with your finger to start it spinning, if it keeps spinning and the error doesn't appear, it would indicate that the fan motor start capacitor has failed. The capacitors on indoor units are normally small black square boxes with 2 terminals on it. These capacitors are mounted inside or close to where the indoor electronic box is. Again, make sure all power is disconnected or turned off at the meter box before you do any disassembly.

1、Check whether two sets of plugs on the outlet end of
the motor have loosed from the socket of the
electric control board, insert it firmly when loosing.
2、Check whether the indoor motor has damaged, the
motor should be replaced when it is damaged
3、 Check whether the controllable silicon and other
components on the electric control board have
damaged, replace the controllable silicon or electric
control board when they are damaged.
According to the model number it is a 2 ton or 24,000 BTU unit. It is very important that you change the indoor coil as well as the outdoor section, due to it being a 10 SEER unit, and the new basic systems are 13 SEER, the old coil cannot handle the higher SEER ratings.
Rheem and Ruud are the same equipment, just 1 number different on the model number.
I hope this has helped, please rate the new guy :)

Have a great day!
Remove the cover where the power cord connects (there are 2 screws on the lower side of the cover).
There is a small black dial with numbers like 50, 55, 60, 65, 70.
Just turn the dial to a new number.
