You most likely have a module behind your battery... it's either bad or corrosion has taken it's toll and you will also need a wire harness ... and yes, when those go bad, you can't even move those things...

I cant press the shifter button on my 2002 Santa Fe

You are probably having an issue with your shifter interlock. Your owners manual should tell you how to bypass it for emergency situations, but you will need to have it looked at and repaired. There is a cable and solenoid that releases when the brake pedal is depressed.

Jetta parking brake

Your car should have an E-brake engage/release lever. Please inspect the push button on the end of the lever. Does the button depress and release correctly? My guess is that the lever needs to be repaired or replaced. Maybe the internal spring has broke and the button wont release. If the button doesn't release, the ratchet wont engage. Write back and let me know what you found or if you have other questions, good luck.

Cant move gear selector. is there a sensor? after changing the brake pads,i pumped up the brakes, tryed to go for a test drive, cant get truck gear handle to move.

Make sure the brake light switch didn't come loose when you were pumping the brakes... that switch also releases the shifter. It should be located up on the brake pedal arm under the dash

Engine stalls when clutch/brake pedal is released

Under the seat, there is a operator presence switch, if this switch fails, the mower will shut off when the brake is released, or put in any gear.

Riding mower dies when releasing brake

the seat switch is the problem. the switch itself could be bad, but usually theproblem is that the connector is just not plugged in all the way [by the way, trying to bypass the switch by inserting the wire doesn't work because there is a "switch" inside the connector to prevent you from doing just what you did]
