SOURCE: No manual with Bunn NHBX coffee maker.

Leave the unit unplugged and add a carafe of water to the top reservoir.
Close the lid.
Wait a bit to make sure the water has drained into the tank.
Add another carafe of water to the top reservoir.
Place carafe on warmer plate.
Close the lid.
When water stops going into the carafe, you may plug the machine in and make sure the "travel switch" is in the ON position. ON = |, OFF = O.
Wait at least 15 minutes for the water in the tank to heat up, and brew as you normally would for other BUNN coffee makers.

How to fix a leak on a bunn NHBX coffee maker

The leak is most likely between the water reservoir and the tank. Bunn uses a soft silicone seal for that connection that gets compressed over time and starts to leak water whenever you make a pot of coffee.

It's planned obsolescence. Bunn won't sell you a new seal. So you have to improvise. But it's simple enough to do.

Remove the top cover and the plastic water reservoir right below it. Don't tamper with the little valve that opens when you close the lid.

Look for the seal. It could be stuck to the bottom of the reservoir, or sitting loosely on top of the metal tank. Make sure to preserve its top-to-bottom orientation (don't put it back in upside down).

Apply a narrow bead of clear silicone into the grooved side of the seal. Press the seal gently onto the reservoir, then apply a thin layer to the smooth side.

Re-install the reservoir and reassemble the unit.

Bunn coffee maker leaks

VPR has a semi-sealed tank that keeps +1 pot of water heated and ready to brew. Pouring in a full pot of cold water will fill the top tray and allow a slow trickle of cold water into the top which forces hot water to over flow into the brew basket. This continues until all the cold water drains into the heater tank. So the brew is matched volume per volume. UNLESS the tank was empty or not filled prior to brewing. Follow the brewing instructions from Bunn (on line for *FREE* download at Bunn.com)
* If it leaks (from the bottom) only when you pour in water. Then your pouring it too fast and over flowing the fill tray. slowdown, watch the level in the tray. do not fill past the lid.
* If it leaks just sitting (not brewing) then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
* If it leaks after filling the tray half way. then the top of the tank has a leak, loose, cracked, or missing gasket. There is quite a few gaskets on the lid. Call for service.
* Final; Leaks are always bad around electrical equip. Best to unplug and call for service to be safe.

Water leaks out the back of my bunn coffee maker. i took it a part and cleaned it but it did not help, is there anything else i can do?

Take top off by unpluging machine then removing the 2 screws where you add water.
Pry lid off ( where you pour water with a knife)
Remove 4 screws that hold top on.
Check this tank for leaks at sink.
inspect rest of plumbing and look at the brass pipe that goes into the tank and has 2 wires into it. The gasket / and washer here might be eroded or damaged.
possible to fix if you get the right parts.

When I pour water into the top to activate the reservoir, water leaks out of the bottom of the coffee maker. Is there an "O" ring that might need to be replaced or...?

Sure it's one of two gaskets. If it's the one from the reservoir to the tank then you can get it free from Bunn if it is the gasket in the tank that seals the top to the bottom. Then you'll need to contact Dave at http://alltempparts.com 02747.0000

Bunn coffee maker leaks water only during operation...near end of the cycle (not when it just sits & not when water is first added).

There is a gasket where the water inters the tank, you have to remove the tank to get to it .mark down how it is wired so you can hook it back up.Use a high-temp
silacone ( auto ) and seal it under the the gasket and around the edge of the gasket.. 2 screws holding the metal plate plate. 4 screws holding tank need a 12 or 14 " phillips to reach down on the side of the tank to remove outer cover.

No manual with Bunn NHBX coffee maker.

before plugging in place your empty filter basket in the coffee maker and place a pot under it. Slowly pour in two pots of water using the pour pitcher. Now you can plug it in. it'll take 15 min to heat up first time . when you brew your first pot leave your water level a little short, because the water will expand (only the first time)
