Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

Open Question

DVD MALFUNCTION The DVD player is diplaying a NO NUM message on the display window, initialy, which then turns to REGION. On the TV screen the following message is displayed: (Player's Region Setting), followed by <1>: Region up to <6>: Region, then at bottom of message written Pick out any one of these! The problem is that you can't pick any region as they are not clickable and all the buttons of the remote don't work except for volume control and 'System Setup'. When DVD holder is opened then the 'Home Menu' button works with limited functions. Therefore, due to this all DVDs can't play excepting those with automatic start. The same problem with Pioneer XV-DV232 (DCS232)!!

hi you can try this it been tested and will work if done correct we just tested this and had no problems unlocking this in the shop lol.

1. Power the player off.
2. Press and hold 'DVD Menu' and 'On Screen' on the player.
3. Power the player back on.
4. Release both buttons.
5. Press Standby. The display should now read either TEST 2, TEST 4, or TEST 6
depending on the machine's current region setting.
6. Press DVD Menu twice on the player.
7. When the display reads 000 5858 use the up and down buttons to change the
000 to 02E.
8. Using the Left and Right arrow buttons, change the last four digits until
they read 0000 for Region Free, 0001 for Region 1, 0002 for Region 2 or 0004 for
Region 4....
NB: DO NOT Use Region 20!!!
9. Press Enter on the player.
10. Press Standby.
11. Wait 5 Second.
12. Press Standby again.
Some titles may not play in region free setting. If this happens select the
needed region.

Most have "hack codes" but yours is in a select group of a few that simply cant be done with a couple pushes of a button.

As far as I am aware the only way to get thesemachines to play Region 1 discs is to have them chipped. A variety of solutionsare available, and it needn't be expensive (typically £30 to £70) but youshould be aware that any internal modifications to your players wouldinvalidate the warranty. Have a look at the following web sites for moreinformation:

I know you were looking for a free solution you could do in a matter of seconds and sorry it didnt work out that way. Regardless, I hope I pointed you in the right direction and feel free to ask if you have any more question.

Region 1 is US/Canada. This is your only available region. If you put in a DVD from a different region, it will not work.

You need to make sure that you do the #8243 step

To change your DVD region settings try the following:

Turn on player with no disk inserted
Press "Open/Close" on the remote control
Press "259″ on the remote control
After enter the code 13893108520 again on the HOME Screen and the player will show region "0"

Now the buttons on the front of the player do not work anymore.... You will need to go to SETUP and click on RESET FACTORY SETTINGS....
Wait until the player restarts and now you can play all DVD regions

When i put in a dvd i get a message wrong region,is there a fix for this problem

You should be able to unlock all regions on your standalone DVD player using a series of keys on the remote this will unlock it to region 0

1. Switch on the DVD and open the tray.

2. From remote . Press four times zero : 0000 + (the digit for corresponding region , e.g 1 for region 1 , 2 for region 2 and similarly ----- 0 for region free
(This means if you want region free settings then u need to press 00000 or for region 1 : 00001)

3. Message will be displayed on screen saying region 0 which means the DVD is region free !!

You can check the region by open the tray and pressing the display button on the remote

I suggest you try THIS is the above doesn't work

Can i make it region free?

Turn on your DVD Player

Press OPEN on remote

Press 1 3 7 9 and the number of the region you want to use between 0 and 6. Use 0 for region free. You may need to press these buttons slowly. You will see XXXX on the TV. When you press the last number, it will display at the top left of the screen.

Now insert a disc (other than your own region) into the player and close it. It should load and play. Other region discs should play as well. If you didn't do it correctly it will display "Wrong Region".

When you turn off the DVD player it will keep the settings.

Regional code

4.- PRESS ENTER UNTIL SHOW "Region code: 9" (Region Free)

1-Turn on your DVD player.
2-Open the tray.
3-Press 9 five times, you will see a number (for me it was 6, you'll see it on the screen, where the DVD displays all messages, like a blue bar up top) then I pressed 9 a few more time until the number being displayed there turned to a 9, when it does then press enter, now it's region free.
