Icemaker has stopped harvesting. Freezer door had been left slightly open cusing frost and ice build up

The Sub Zero 650 is a built in model. I do have the option to turn off the complete unit at the controls, refrigerator and the freezer. I shall transfer to contents of the freezer to another chest freezer that we have. Should I then turn off the unit, open the freezer drawer and let the temperature come up to thaw the icemaker? Of course with the 650 it is difficult to see the icemaker but I assume that if I leave it for a couple hours it should have dried out or is there something about the icemker that I am not aware of?

Excellent! Made ice overnight. What's more it gave me the opportunity to clean the freezer out - items I didn't know we had!! Well done.

You need to unplug the fridge-freezer, then clean out all the ice, get it dry and then after 120min plug it back in, it should reset its settings and start to operate again.

yes that's what you need to do, but if you feel that it is not completely dried out in 2hours then wait a little longer because this is a vital step in fixing it.

I need you to confirm your model number. Is MZD2665HE correct? The problem is very likely a broken 12565502 Dispenser Door Spring or more providing you have the correct model number. There may be a kit if the model number is different. Thanks, John Tripp Appliance 911

Similar to the problem above, ice maker not working, I'll see if I can check the solenoid. The doors on my refrigerator get progressively worse about closing, and if you physically close the left one,...

Greetings,
there should be a way to shut it off totally...check to see if any water is frozen in the icemaker fill tube coming into the icemaker..if so, use a hair drier to melt ice for temp service. if there is ice build up in tube...you will need a new solenoid....be careful, it may not be solenoid...sometimes its the icemaker itself...

Replaced water valve to ice maker -used jumper method on the ice maker to test - worked once then not again. checked the voltage coming in and it was 33 volts the ice maker also won't cycle with the jumper...

You need to replace the icemaker . Pt # 2198597 . When you open the freezer door . the laser flash 2 times , then pause , then 2 more times continually (normal) ? If the laser does not light at all , then icemaker is in the harvest mode ( may be stuck , replace icemaker ) . If in harvest mode , even slightly , jumper will not work .

Buzzing sound

If noise stops when you open the door, you may have a noisy fan (or could have ice build up, causing fan blade to hit ice and cause noise). I gather it is a frost-free model ie has a fan in the freezer compartment. If noise is caused by fan hitting ice build up, you may have a problem with the auto defrost system, as you should not get ice build up in a frost free.
Noise stops when you open door because fan turns off when door is opened.

Thaw's. Turn-off for period of time it would freeze as normal

Make sure nothing is inhibiting air flow. I don't think it is advisable to store food in an ice machine however that is not likely the problem unless the food itself is inhibiting air flow. Most ice machine manufacturers recommend against storing any food in an ice machine. If there is a freezer component in you model the check to see if the evaporator coils are frosting up and the frost is blocking airflow causing the ice storage chamber to get warm. High humidity can cause frosting. Leaving a door to the ice maker open too long can cause frosting. A low refrigerant charge can do this although it seems logically like it should not. With a very slightly low charge one end of the evaporator gets super cold and the other end is not cold enough. Frosts starts collecting on the super cold end and accumulates across the evaporator coil to the other end eventually blocking all air flow. With too much humidity from open doors frost accumulates over the entire evaporator evenly but still blocks. You shut the unit down. It thaws out and works OK on restart until frost again builds up. If its not a frosting problem but it just stops making ice then the ice may not be releasing. Check the water supply and change any filters to insure good water flow. A good water supply is required for proper release and harvest of the ice in many ice machines. If the ice doesn't release it takes a shut down and thaw to clear the suspended ice out. Check for these things and write back if you need further assistance and can provide me with more details.

Freezer keeps running

yes,you need to pull the front panel on the ice maker off to get to the solinoid that opens and closes the flap, with the flap vranked open you are letting cold air out and warm air in and that makes frost,if you don't want to try and fix it your self put a cloth towel in the chute to block the air lose and call an honest local appliance repair person-mike

Icemaker making too much ice & Freezer frosting up.

Hi gpss,
It sounds like you are getting large amounts of warm moist air into the freezer. This can be caused by the door being left cracked open or the door seal not sealing properly. Check your door gaskets on both sides of the refrigerator. One other possible is the ice chute. If it is not closing all the way it will cause the same problem. You will get alot of frost forming in the freezer then it will melt when the refrigerator defrosts. Let me know if this helps, and if you have anymore questions.
