There are 3 commonly used methods manufacturers use to initiate an arc. High Frequency Start, Mechanical Spring back, and a Pilot Arc. You can swap any kind of plasma torch on your machine providing the torch is designed for the type of arc initiator your machine uses.

You can easily swap out one plasma torch for another using an adapter kit. Thermal Dynamics provides adapter kits for over 20 different brands. All of the kits I have installed have been extremely easy.

Cutmaster 81 plasma cutter when turned on, starts normal but air solenoid keeps going on and off. What could be the problem?

Hi:

Sound like you have a faulty start cartridge, probably you used the torch handle to bang a metal part to make it fall. This is a common problem when using the gun as a hammer. Just replace the start cartridge. Before changing it; check the cartridge's lower end, this must move freely up and down.. If you did replace the cartridge already then probably your output power pc board it's damaged.

My Thermal Dynamic Drag Gun Plasma Cutter runs but cant blow its arc. Bit of spark, Bit of air, then just refuses to blow its arc. Was working well and with new tips and electrodes but then just refused....

Hi:
There is no mention of the Thermal Dynamic's gun model, but i will suppose that it is a SL60 or a SL100 which are replacement guns for any model of plasma using the proper adaptor.
Your problem could be the start cartridge which go bad now and then when the gun is used as a replacement of a hammer to make the cut piece to fall.

The way to check if your start cartridge is in good condition is by checking the low part of the cartridge, push it up (or down depending on the way you handle it) it should freely slide inside and return out.

Good luck.

Can i plug my miller spectrum 1000 plasma cutter into a 110 or other houshold outlet like a 220 outlet some how

no you idiot! the plug is different & even if you could somehow, its half the power output. Your plasma welders for the matter, have whats called a duty cycle, which plays into effect.... electrical load level....ect.
HOWEVER-- you can plg ito the same outlet as your stove, washer & dryer plugs. DON'T BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN, The wife will kill you!

Pull the trigger ,air comes out no fire

Ck the ground and the condition of the tip. The more it gets concave the harder it gets to get a arch. Gun angle is also important, hold at right angle to work and don't forget a very good ground.

The lights are working for power and gas pressure but not the DC arc....BIG Repair problem?????? It a Pak Master 25 Plasma cutter from Thermal Dynamics bought 15 years ago

No, Try changing the tip. The one under thr node cone. If it burns back it will concave and increase the gap between the work and gun tungdten electrode.

The plasma also cuts ferrous and non-ferrous metals much faster than an Oxy-Fuel torch or abrasive saws, with low or no heat affected zone, especially on thinner metals. A clean cut with little or no dross means less time and money is required to finish the work piece. Parts are virtually weld-ready
