Problem for ATI 3D Rage II, (2 MB) Graphic Card

Choppy play with high quality video

My computer is a bit dated

Ati technologies 3D rage Video card with 4 MB of memory( no 3d or texture acceleration)


440 mHz processor

512 MB ram
Now, some lower quality video on line plays just fine, but higher quality lags in video seriously. Audio seems fine.

I have an up to date sound card.

Woulds a new video card help with this video lag?
or even a used video card with 3D acceleration or better memory than 4 MB

I figure if the sound card works,why wouldn't a new video card.

Others on this same service with a newer computer have great video play.
So its not the provider or service witch is Verizon.

A replacemnet video card would help some, but you still have the problem of the 440 mhz processor.

There is not a lot you can do about the processor outside of rebuilding the whole computer. If for some reason that is not an option for you, then yeah, a $20 video card from ebay might give some relief (if you know what to get.. AGP or PCI), but don't be surprised if your processor is just too taxed to render high quality video at the proper rate.
