SOURCE: How do I remove the PTO clutch from a John Deere

Locate and disconnect the power supply cord from the clutch. Remove the bolt, washer and retainer from the center of the clutch, It should now slide off the end of the crankshaft provided you have previously removed anything such as body parts or braces that would be in the way. In some instances penetrating oil must be used to help free it up. When you reassemble it, it is a good idea to use a little bit of anti-seize on the engine shaft in case you have to remove it in the future.

Does the John Deere LX172 mower have an electric clutch and if so how do I operate it. I can't get my tractor to move.

Hi Bill, you electric clutch only engages your pto. The clutch for the Transmission just releases tension on an idler for the drive belt. Do you still have spring resistance on the clutch pedal?

Is there any adjustments to the electric clutch on a 2007 John Deere X340? I have a slight noise issue when the clutch is not engaged.

There is no adjustment but the clutch does have a bearing in it that rotates only when it is disengaged. This may be what you are hearing.

PTO clutch slipps when warm on John Deere Model 112

I had that exact same mower about 20 years ago. The clutch if i recall correctly is like the clutch on a automotive AC compressor, its an electro magnet that pulls the clutch plate in, so if its slipping its probably just time for a new clutch. As far as i can remember, and like i said its been 20 years, there is no adjustment on the electric clutch because it has spring pressure to compensate for wear, so as it wears down it still engages, but if your slipping its probably just beyond its wear limits and needs to be replaced.
