Question about Samsung SyncMaster 17 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

My Samsung 56" DLP Model HL-R5667W is driving me nuts!!! Bought TV in Oct '05. Bulb burst in Aug. '06. Then bulb burst again 11 months later. So when '07 and '08 came around I was expecting to replace the bulb again but nothing. Very happy! But now a whole new problem. The dumb thing keeps shutting on and off for the past two days without rhyme or reason. power went off 5 days ago for a few minutes and tv had trouble coming back on. black screen with sound then completely off. No problems for days. I have taken off the door where the battery does and got dust out and made sure no dust on vents. Now trying to put door back on with the little blue switch in down position, nearly impossible. been trying for 45 minutes with no luck. Question is IF this doesn't work (dusting vents, etc) what else should I do to try and diagnose problem????? Don't have the Samsung warranty anymore and DID have extended one through the store but as everyone knows by now.....Circuit City is no more!

Lamps are rated to last between six and eight thousand hours. I am guessing you watch a lot of tv. Now the next part to go out is the LamP Ballast. It is a High Voltage power supply that runs the lamp. I suggest you replace the Ballast no matter what due to the age and you had a power outage which will damage the ballast. Part# is BP47-00027A. Next I ask you have you ever heard a loud whining noise? If you answer yes,the you have a bad Color Wheel. Then also you might Have a bad Digital bd. Power surges will damage it as well.

Hello, are there any sounds coming from your television? If something happened to the colorwheel I dont think the TV would come on at all, I would by instinct take a look at replacing the DMD chip.

Samsung just told me they wouldn't fix my tv because it was produced in Nov. of '06 and the only ones they would fix were made in August of '06 or earlier. I am way too angry right now to call the service tech number they so very nicely provided.

Samsung DLP turns on and off - cycle repeats

make sure put the lamp door back before trying to turn it on because they have switches on them that allow the tv to turn on. If that is ok you probably have a bad ballast.
Call a local tv repair shop to further diagnose the problem.

Our Samsung HL-P4663W DLP is makes noise and shuts off

It is the color wheel, inside the light engine. The bearings get dirty and makes it harder for the wheel to spin causing that whin.
