Question about Nokia N79 Cellular Phone
Hi i have a n79 prototype (n00) that has a backlight that won't turn off. this drains the battery really fast. i tried to fix this but i can't connect to my pc to update the software- it just says 'device malfunction' and refuses to recognise the phone.
can you possibly help?
Does the phone have an IMEI starting with "0044..."? If so, the update service won't do anything at all with it...

Tips for a great answer:
If the bluetooth is not detected on the menu the fault is on the software or even a fault on the hardware. If there is no activation of the bluetooth perhaps the phone needs a rebooting . now it is possible that the phone has hung up because there are errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Copy only valid files to the card and do a scan before it is replaced. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up or is slow when it is switched ON , then it is possible that the fault is relative to the software and will need a reinstallation. Possible hardware issue cannot be ruled out.
