Question about Heating & Cooling

My car Air Conditioner is not blowing cool air.

The heater work's fine. I would like to know how I go about checking for a short in the wire, I don't think any fire is reaching the compressor.

Bonjouir, kindly allow me, V, to dust a little of my ideas on this matters. The AC in cars work based on the same principle like refrigirators, the Expand and cool a coolant chemical, known as Freon. Its volume expands and compresses perpetually, this creates a drastic thermal change. But anyway, he.heheh....hehe. The AC is not working, that's what we should focus on. The AC's coolant most likely is detoriant. It can be replaced easily, you can cleanse the previous coolant, make sure to refer to Dealer, or Car manual, or even mechanic. They will tell you exactly which product to buy for your Car's System. After the Flush, (this is a process used to completely remove any residues of the previous chemicals, often uses anothe chemical as well) process, you can install the new one and it should work. You can google: "Flush Process for Cars" and Wala...lOl :)
Thankyou,
V :)

Why would my combo A/C - Heater unit not blow air while heating or cooling is selected but will blow air just fine when set to "fan only"?

Sounds like wiring issue to me. I've delt with units like this and there is a wire lead for fan only and a separate one to run the fan when the unit is cooling or heating. I'm only speculating here but I would bet money that this was improperly installed.

Dont get discouraged though because it sounds like its working (for the most part) if you feel up to the task find the manual and check your connections. Otherwise hire a professional.

2008 Jeep Liberty-My heater was barely warm-blowing fine tho. Was told I had a plugged heater core and needed a new one. Had a new heater core put in and then my air conditioner stopped blowing cold air....

I woild be checking the vent controls as if the ac is working and the core was blocked then the air would be cool when the heat was selected but not changing Fixing the heater has resulted in a /c not being good enough to cool the air if the vent is not properly selecting. The point is that if the vent selection is not working properly (vacuum hoses) then the 2 faults will be related.

Air conditioner blows the fuse

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE WIRING BETWEEN THE FUSE AND THE AC PANEL, USE A CONTINUITY TESTER TO CHECK FOR CONTINUITY , IF THAT FAILS OR IS OK THEN CHECK ALL RELATED RELAYS IT MAY JUST BE THAT YOUR AC NEEDS RE GASSING?

Why is ge ajes12dcc 11600/11400 window air condition/heater combo blowing cold air for heat the air conditioner is working fine but the heater is blowing out cold air

Hi, it sounds to me like your reversing valve is not switching the flow of freon over to heat, stuck in cooling. The valve is located near the compressor, it has a 24 volt coil on it. If you unplug it, it should switch the valve into heat. If not, the valve is probably froze stuck, and will need to be replaced. Something a service tech would have to do.

I keep blowing the control transformer when I turn on the A/C. The system works fine when I turn on the heater. When I try to turn on A/c nothing turns on before control transformer blows.Jim...

First thing I would recommend is to go to the closest auto parts store and get an inline car fuse folder and some 5 amp fuses. Connect this to wire that comes off the transformer and goes to R. That way you will only blow fuses instead of transformers.
I will assume this system isn't a heat pump since it runs fine in heat mode. If it is, please let me know. Also, I will assume there is no circuit board outside, but let me know if there's one.

Go out to the condenser and remove the Y wire from the contactor, then try the system in cool mode. If the fuse blows, you have a short in the low voltage wire between the air handler and condenser and will need to find it, cut it out, then re-splice. If the fuse doesn't blow, you will likely need a new contactor.

Weather King blows fuse in Criterion II furnace

You probably have a shorted wire between the heater and the a/c. There are two wires that conncet the control power to the outdoor a/c from the heater they should be on terminal c & y in the heater. disconect those two wires and try it again if the fuse doesnt blow you have a short in the wire between the a/c & heater

Bryant Legacy Line air conditioning not blowing cool air..

Your outdoor condenser is in heat mode. Check the wires on the thermostat. Sounds like a small wiring problem and nothing else. Good luck. Please keep me posted as to you progress.

Danby DPAC10061 portable air conditioner problem

you may have a factory defective unit that is not turning off the anti-frost heating coil (I have assumed yours contains this item based on your problem description). I would trade it in for a new unit, again assuming you have a warranty or the store offers a good in-store return policy. If this plan bombs, then open the unit and find the heating coil near the cool side of the radiator fins. then disconnect the power wires to the heater and prevent electrical short to wires with quality electrical tape.
