Question about Canon DR-9080C Path-Through Scanner

1 Answer

DR-9080C Extremely Slow

I installed the DR-9080C with default settings and am achieving 39.5 PPM.

I attempted to alleviate this by lowering DPI and enabling Scan Ahead but to no avail, my scanner remains fixed at 39.5 PPM.

I got the scanner to replace the slower DR-5080 (rated at 50 PPM) but this scanner is going much slower when it is supposed to go more than double its current speed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Change your USB port and Cable and Try. Buy a good quality USB cable, this makes some difference. If even after this the speed is (s)low, check if there is some virus on your Computer or try on a different computer.

Copying extreemely slow

Things that change printing speed are
-Color vs. Black and White Low 4 PPM High 25 PPM
-Quality DPI Dots per Inch. Usually 100 200 300 DPI
-General speed of the make and Model
-Photo Printers are very slow but produce a clear image.

You can set DPI in setup on the printer
Copiers are just the speed they are

Slow save on pdf file with capture perfect3

Change the scan resolution to 200 dots per inch (200 dpi). If 300 it tajes a few seconds. If 1200 dpi, it may take really long.

DR-9080c Isn't being detected via USB

Uninstall the device driver, restart the Comp and reinstall the software. If the scanner is not detected, try inserting any working device on the same USB port. if it detected, thee could be problem in the Scanner, if the new device is not detected, then it may be port problem.

Lower reading unit broken?

Ensure you have selected Duplex option. Canon DR 9080C uses LED lights and hence the chances of failure of light source is fairly low. Try scanning in Color.
The scan module, if required, can be replaced and is available in the market between $600 to $750. Please ensure that the module is faulty before replacing. (the upper and lower modules are interchangeable, except for a few plastic parts)S. Mohan, Chennai, India

We have a Canon DR-9080C scanner. When scanning in Duplex on pages with data on both sides, the back side of each page is coming out unreadably faint. The header and any overall large blocks of black on...

The Canon DR 9080C is a 'contact' scanner. There is no optical lens, instead it uses a technology called "Contact Image Sensor' or CIS. The page to be scanned must be close to the glass for a proper image. This is achieved by a full-length rubber roller just above/below the scanning module. The roller is spring loaded and in case it gets stuck, there wont be enough pressure on the document to keep it close to the glass. ensure these rollers are moving smoothly and if required clean them. The rollers are on the opposite of the Scanning module.

Canon DR-9080C gives Low memory message

Duplex scanning, Color Scanning and high-density scanning (600 dpi) cannot go with long documents like 11x17. Change the scanning mode, try one side at a time or reduce the resolution.

Scanning speed problem

The scanners rated speed is for black and white all error correction turned off. As soon as you start doing 24bit colour or grayscale or up the dpi the scanner will start scanning more slowly. I personally get abpout 60ppm with my error correction on black and white 200dpi. (300 dpi scans just as fast although 400dpi will slow down).
