Jenn-Air 36 Gas Cooktop

It seems that the controls of the front right and rear left burners are malfunctioning: The ignighter clicks only when the knob is first turned and not while in "light" position. Sometimes they trigger the ignition and keep triggering, even when the burner is already lit and the control is not turned to "light".

The other two burners light and operate properly.

Flame flares up sporadically while cooking

Hi,

Due this test, turn on all burners on high, as you turn them on, does the problem burner change in volume or size of flame? If all burners are on and you only have issues with that single burner you need to replace that burner valve only. If you have issues with all burners when the all are on, replace the regulator.

I hope this helps and leads you in the right direction.

Jenn Air Gas cooktop burner ignition

Hi JHMcdona

Most likely the electrode for the right burner is defective. As well as the switch may also be defective (is shorted because of pressing hard on it trying to make it work!!). Change the electrode and igniter switch of the right front burner.

Exhaust fan comes on when burner turned on

The left side is set for your grill. There is apparently a switch under the left side top / front of the cooktop. The aeration tray has a prong on one end that fits into a hole in the front end of the burner basin and activates the switch which stops the fan from coming on when using the burners and allows the fan to run when using the grill. Try switching sides with the aeration trays as one might make better contact than the other.

Clicking sound whenever I turn on a burner

There is no problem. The click your hearing is the spark module igniting the gas. The clicking will only occur while the know is turned to ignite and will stop after your turn the knog to any other setting.
