you can solve your problem easily, your uim card which is rejected by sim :firstly your uim card insert correctly or not secondly your sim card placed correctly or not if not both you insert the card correctly otherwise your must be phone off because sometimes phone hanged.
This could mean that the SIM is worn out and needs to be replaced,or your phone could be suspended for some reason (non-payment on postpaid plan or maybe you have run out of minutes) it will say that the SIM is being rejected. you should contact your service provider.
NOTE; when you have been asked for the PUK code a number of times, something happens to the sim card and it becomes permanently locked. You have to go and get a new one.
The main problem when your phone says "Insert SIM card" is that the SIM card may not be well positioned/bigger/smaller/older than the phone's SIM reader. The second problem might be related to the electrical circuits that are malfunctioning. In this case you can do nothing but taking it to a service. It will cost you about 15$. And yes,I've almost forgotten, this problem might occure when the battery is not well mounted. In this case i reccomend you to put some folded paper between the batery and the back lid of your phone. That should keep it more stable.
