Cannot open mouse to insert battery

The lever that should open the mouse if very very short and I cannot release the top of the mouse to insert the battery. I know this is stupid, but the mouse won't seem to work without the attery!

This is rediculous! When i purchased the mouse i had to refer to the directions to insert the battery. I guess they figure that you must be a complete idiot not to just know what to do because the instrustions are not easy to find. I was ready to call the company when i found them. Now i'm far from home and my battery is dead and guess what???? Can't figure it out AGAIN.

Thank you for using FixYa,

On my Logitech mouse the release button is on the back and you slide it with one hand and pick up on the front panel with your finger nail and it should come open. Not under the scroll bar, but the front of the mouse is where it opens.

I hope this was a help to you and please comment if it resolved your issue.

Where do I change the batteries for my mouse? I can't find where the batteries go.
Answer

This article applies to the following products:
All Logitech cordless mice

For some cordless mice or trackballs, there is a slot for the battery door on the bottom of the mouse. Between the slot and the outside edge of the door is a thin strip of plastic. If you compress this thin strip of plastic towards the slot, the catch on the door will release and the door should open.

On other mice, the battery door is on the top of the mouse. Simply slide the top of the mouse cover down and lift the door up. There should be an etched diagram on the door indicating which direction to slide the door.

Once you have opened the battery door, remove the old batteries and dispose of them according to your local waste disposal regulations. Then insert the new batteries into the battery compartment using the diagram in the compartment as a guide. When you have finished inserting the batteries, replace the battery door.
