Question about Uniden DCT648-3 Cordless Phone

1 Answer

Uniden DCT648-3 "welcome Please Wait"

Every time I try to use any handset the screen displays "Welcome Please Wait" message. Nothing happens, no dial tone. Base unit "in use" light comes on. Why? How can I get the handsets to work?

DCT646-3 - Same Problem, 1 of 3 handsets just says "Welcome! Please Wait..." - New battery (which works fine in other handset)

  • Furiae Feb 16, 2008

I have the exact same problem. All I can get is "Welcome! Please wait..." The battery is not the problem because I can take the battery from this phone and put it in another phone and the other phone works fine.

I have the same problem with all the three handsets. When I see the "Welcome please wait" message, the call has automatically transferred to the base set, and I can put that on speaker and talk.

The recommended solution is to change the battery... I don't understand why I need to do that, as all handsets are continuously charged, so all the three handsets' batteries should be charged.

Phone says ''Welcome ... please wait'' when you try to use it

I tried to copy and paste the solution for this issue, but Fixya only allows so many charecters and I guess the answer is too long.
Go to

and select the owner's manual for your model phone. Follow the procedures for deregistering the handsets and then resetting the base. then re-register the handsets and you should be good to go. It is all pretty easy, just a little to wordy for this forum I guess.

Uniden DSS7855+1, flashing ''welcome! please wait...'', wont work

This is not a direct solution to your problem, but a workaround for a similar situation. I have two headsets and two charging stations. One of the headsets was stuck with the message ''Welcome! please wait''. When I put the phone on the charging station it usually sits on nothing would happen, but when I put it on the other station the phone came back to life. The non-working charging station will still charge the phone so it is worth keeping.

Uniden TRU8885-2 Restarts every time an incoming phone call, start showing the Welcome message ....

YOUR batteries are bad and not giving full current to phone.Clean charging contact and see battery gets full charge. IFthe battery indicator will show full charge due to voltage but once if you remove battery and put it again indicator will be minimum. then replace batttery.

Same thing was happening to my phone...Welcome! Please wait... After at least 40 hours of charging I was getting a little fed up. I picked up the handset, took a ball point pen and pushed the "activation" area on the bottom the phone...heard a it is working. I don't think the tiny pin that comes with the phone activates the phone properly.

To make the message light go away when there are no messages - remove the handset from the base and press and hold the "find handset" key for 5 seconds. Resets it!
