If you want to buy a jetski. I highly recommend yamaha. Especially if you plan to ride in salt water. Well anyway check for cracks and abuse.have the owner start it with a hose connected to make sure the pump works. Look inside the engine make sure no water is coming in while its running. Ask him/her if they cleaned it after evry use. If it was winerized. Ask if they use wd-40 and sprayed the motor down after every use. Make sure you do that also no matter what you buy. Clean it a spray down the motor with wd-40. I have a 95 yamaha the motor starts up with no issue every year for 14 years now. If all is good tell him/her you want to test drive it ski will always run better without a load (out of water) than with a load. if it runs good with a load then go for it.
