Remote will turn on the light, but not the fan.

I have a fairly old ceiling fan. My remote will turn on the light but not the fan. We cleaned the battery connections twice with alcohol and it started. Will not start anymore. Of course it would be advantageous to be able to replace the remote rather that having to buy a new fan because the remote does not work.
'thank you

I have a Hampton Bay 70" Amaretto Ceiling Fan. Model CF570ERBRD, UPC 845952000346. It will not work. Have turned off power then hold down LIGHT/FAN OFF buttons to reset, but doesn't work. What to do?

In the old days ceiling fans were fairly simple to troubleshoot but the addition of electronics has made them complex and difficult for the dubious advantages of slightly improved efficiency and being able to use a remote control with an appliance that is probably also cheaper to produce.

The circuit will have to be checked as far as possible and the supply verified using a multimeter, though regardless of that it seems unlikely the system will be capable of resetting with the power switched off.

The light on the remote is a battery light. First mistake was buying a store brand fan which are mostly low-end parts. Try adding a different remote w/receiver.

I can still control the Fan function with remote, but can no longer turn the light on. I installed a new bulb and even new battery in the remote. The light still doesn't turn on. Also cleaned remote as...

Howdy,

Is it possible this fan also has a pull chain switch for control of the light? If not, it sounds like the light board in the receiver has burned out, which is a fairly common issue. If the above does not work, call Hunter at 1-901-745-9222, a direct line to tech support. Be sure to have your fan model # ready as they will need it to get your correct receiver. If it's under a year old they should give you a replacement provided you can provide proof of purchase.

We have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan (about 10 yrs old) don't know the model. It will only turn 1 speed? When trying to change speeds with the chain pull it stays the same. It quit working for a while and I...

the fan changes speed by inserting a capacitor of different values in series with the motor .. direct drive to the motor is the fastest speed .. a large capacitor in series slows it down a bit and a smaller capacitor slows it down more ... so if your fan is running at full speed all the time then one of the capacitors is shorted or the switch is bad .. if its stuck on one of the lower speed settings then the switch has a bad contact .. the capacitors are mounted together in a small box with several wires going to the pull chain switch .. you can replace the capacitor box .. and you can replace the 3 or 4 position switch ... or you can remove all that stuff and put in a remote controled system .. that involves a box that just fits inside the fan .. it is hooked to AC power and neutral .. it then hooks up to the lilght and the fan giving you control over both .. you can vary brightness and fan speed .. you would no longer need the fan or light pull switch or the capacitors ... you could also get a new fan having such a controller .. since yours is fairly old it might be worthwhile to upgrade .. some of the remote controls allow you to set a temperature ..if the room goes above that temp then the fan turns on automatically and the speed is determined by how much higher the room temprature is from that set value .. some remotes also give you an additional very low fan speed .. thats nice at night when you just need a gentle breeze .. some also allow you to set a delay before the lights go out after you have clicked "turn off" ... that gives you time to exit the room or get in bed before the lights actually go out ... kindof nice features that might make it worth while to up grade .. to get parts for your old fan see this URL
http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php

since Home Depot sells hampton bay .. then they might have parts as well .. worth a try .. you can also see new models there ..

Remote control will not turn on/off fan or light. Has good battery. Where is the transmitter located on the ceiling fan?

The transmitter is the remote. The receiver is located inside the fan mounting bracket next to the ceiling. If you replace it make sure to set the dip settings on the new receiver exactly as they are on the old one. Wire the new receiver exactly as the old one is wired if it was working before.

HUNTER ceiling fan remote works with fan but not light

Unfortunately, you either have a faulty reciever or remote. A replacement will cost $30-$40 at homedepot2.gif. And it doesn't matter which is faulty because you can't purchase them seperately anyhow.

Fan with remote won't work with wall switch. I

I just recently purchased a hunter ceiling fan w/light and remote. Had it installed and wall switch would not work, only remote. I contacted Hunter company directly about this problem and I was told that they redesigned their fans with remotes so that only the remote works for turning off power to fan. The person who made that made that BRILLIANT change should be fired. So to those of you who own a newer hunter an product with a remote ne your wall switch will not work tat s te reason why.

Ceiling fan with light and remote stopped working

It's most likely the receiver for the remote (transmitter) -- it's located under the cover at the top of the fan -- will need replacing.

No power to hunter ceiling fan or light.

It sounds like either the top part of your remote is bad, or you have a bad connection to it. Have someone that is familiar with electricity (that may be you?) check to see if there is power to the ceiling box, and fan's remote that is ususally in the ceiling box, or just under it in the cover. If you have power there, your remote is failing.
