Take the switch out so you can bypass it(connect the two wires together without touching the bare metal) and see it the light works. If it does, replace the switch.

I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan Model BC552. light works, but fan does not. there is vibration (hum) when fan motor is switched on, but fan blades do not move. Blades rotate freely.

Start up capacitor is likely bad. That's the rectangle thing in the bonnet with two wires. If you replace it, replace the on/off switch at three same time.

1999 Mercury Mountaineer back light won't turn on when moving backward

If not the bulb then check the switch. I know nothing about your model (I am in the UK and I imagine you are USA) but it will be operated by the action of selecting reverse, so check at the gear lever or near the gearbox. When you find it, short across the 2 connectors and if your light comes on then it is the switch. If not, then I would suspect the wiring somewhere. HTH.

The check engine light is not coming on when i start my 1997 jeep grand cherokee ?

Sounds like a few issues. The check engine light should come on when you turn the key to "ON" without attempting to start it. If it doesn't, the bulb could be bad and that would mean removing the instrument cluster to change the bulb.
The rough idle issue could be a partially stuck open EGR valve. Remove the valve and clean it good. While you have it out make sure the diaphragm moves freely. Replace the valve if you can't clean it or if it doesn't move.
Go to your local auto parts store and ask them to read the codes (most store provide this as a free service).

Brake light does not work after replacing bulb

It's usually the brake pedal is sticking or you might just need to adjust the pin when you apply your brakes it makes those lights stays on. sometimes you can spray a wd-40 and it'll go away.. this pin is located on top of the brake pedal when you look underneath the steering wheel column or panel....hoped i helped you on this one...
The brake light switch may be either stuck or broken.

Get down in the driver's footwell, and follow the brake pedal arm up under the dash. Look for the switch (see link for a picture), see if the moving arm on it moves freely as the pedal is depressed. If not, try spraying some lube on it (WD-40 or the like) and working it to get it to move freely.

If the arm won't move freely, or the lights don't turn on even when you move the arm, the switch should be removed and replaced.

Buy custom car parts.

Passenger side, front blinker and back blinker and brake light doesn't work. do i just replace bulbs or look elsewhere, and where?

Year? model? grab the hazard switch knob and try to move it about with the blikers on and see if you can get it to start blinking, you may need a new turn signal switch.

I have a Chevy 2500 4X4 with brake lights not working. I have all other lights working. I only have one brake light working when I turn on the right turn signal then my left brake light will work. What's...

What year?

Sounds like a turn signal switch. Earlier models would use the same bulb for the brake and turn signal. The turn signal switch will interrupt power to the brake light and route the signal to either the left or right bulb depending on with way you where turning. Usually you can wiggle the turn signal switch and get the brake light to work momentarily when this is the problem.

Newer vehicles use a lighting module that looks for inputs from the turn signal switch and brake pedal switch and then decides where to send power. This module is also know to go bad.

Light does not work

1. remove power then look to see that the bulb socket bottom pin touches the bottom of the lamp; if it does not use a pen tip to bend it back up.
2. check or, replace the door lamp switch

The light inside the refrigerator is not working and it's dark inside

The first thing to do is see if any bulb will fit in the socket where your light is located. You will use a known good bulb to test if your existing one is bad. If it is bad, replace it will a bulb of similar size and you are done. As a alternative, if you have a volt/ohm meter and know how to use it you can set the meter to ohms and do a continuity test putting one lead to the screw base and the other to the tip of the bulb. If the meter shows activity you will know that the bulb is still good. If it still does not fix the problem, next you inspect the door switch, verifying that it moves freely. These two things are the most common problems. Let me know outcome?
