Question about Prima Televison & Video

I bought a Prima HD 27" TV from Sears 3&1/2 years ago--we were on Direct TV at the time--got a HD receiver from Direct TV so had no problems in the beginning except for lots of shutdowns with the satellite system because of weather con ditions in Central Florida--changed to the Verizon FIOS underground cable this past January--didn't have any problems with the other 2 TV's hooked up in other parts of the house--the Prima TV was in our bedroom for only part time watching--the problem was we kept getting a blue screen with sound--the technician initially hooked it up on the AV 2 side of the TV--didn't think that was a problem but it might have been--everytime we called Verizon tech support to report a blue screen it seemed like we would go through a different procedure each time to get the picture back--finally this past month the picture went and the sound stayed--if looking at the screen, you have half the picture in a dotted dark green wavy/scratchy line look and the other half in a pink & lighter green partially blue same look--we did not take the extended warranty and Sears wanted to charge me $150 just to come out and look at it--they also stated I could not physically bring it in to their repair center--needless to say, I was very upset with them--I called around a couple of local repair businesses and both told me Prima was the manufacturer but parts were not available--they told me it sounded like some part or panel was bad so I shrugged it off and went out and bought a 26" LCD HD flat screen--but I'm still upset that even though this might be an off brand TV, it should last more than 3 1/2 years being partially watched--do I have any chance of getting this fixed without it costing more than the original TV price--thank you, John Roberts

    We did that--this was one of the solutions offered by the tech rep at Verizon--he stated unplug it for 15 minutes not 30--does that time difference make it that more plausible--thank you, JR

    Its been unplugged for 2&1/2 daysas well as disconnected from the receiver--I will plug it back in just to see if we get a picture back of some kind snowy or whatever--I did get some info for your records--it's a HT 2778P model #, manufactured in April, 2005--we bought it Sept, 2005--if you need serial #, I have that also--thanks, JR

    that did not work--the same scenario as before appeared on the screen--we took it off Video 1 and went to the TV setting only and changed channels--nothing changed--JR

Im guessing even though it wasnt used as nuch as the others... vital components a still fed power when turned off and thus like my HD i had for a year with almost a year of use it starting flashing and sometimes towards the blue ..

this happends cause hardware is out of date and malfunctions so you have to buy a new one. plus they wont help you fix it cause they would rather have you buy a new one... companys dont make HDTVs so you dont ever have to buy a new one.. they intent on the HDTVs failing. sorry. i sold mine before it crashed on me

Try a hard reset unplug it for 30mins and try again

    Yes it does because in tv's the components such as capacitors, resistors and general components in the main board can hold power for ~30mins.

I bought Philips antenna, SDV1125T/27. Still I can't get my old tv to work. MY tv is old Toshiba 26AF45C.I'm not sure I bought the correct antenna.Please help


That TV will longer work with any Antenna by itself..the reason is a few years back the government mandated all TV signals will be HD. they sent out HD receiver boxes to allow old non HD TV's receive HD signals...I have a TV in my camper with the receiver Works great...Just see if you can locate one..there were thousands sent out..so they are out there Try Ebay..good luck.

14 month old Prima 36 inch lcd tv takes 2+ hours before on.


If you purchased the warrenty extra above the cost of the tv Sears will allow you to purchase another extended warrenty. Contact them and let them know your extended warrenty ran out and you would like to buy another. I would leave out the part about the tv being broken.

just press the "PIP" button on the remote it happened to me and i just thought that it looked familiar and i pressed it and it worked hope it helps :)

no. the tv has to be built for hd. if you want to watch true hd you have to have an hdtv.

Problem is solved. I unplugged my DVR from my receiver for about a minute, reconnected it, and the that solved the problem.
