typical, I have the same problems with this stupid recorder ever since it was bought ( got it free with the TV). Sent it to Samsung repair centre recommended by their site and they upgraded the firmware.. and guess what!!! when they sent it back it still did not work - what a pile of ****. Updated the suggested firmware and it did bugger all. It's about time someone sue these people for producing i
tems that are not fit for purpose. Also any movies you record on any samsung players might not play on other recorders. much I found out after sending out 10 dvd's to customers.

Have exactly the same problem, now realise that mine probably lasted longer than many. If anyone is still running complaints would be happy to join in as our machine has hardly been used.

It wont play a brand new movie dvd. It is not a problem with dirt or scratches. It just spits them out.

Samsung DVD-R130, Used very little, right in the middle of movie, Jason Bourne leaping off of a building with bad guys shooting at him, DVD stops, says can't read disc, then drawer opens. Opened it up, cleaned it, put back together, does the same thing with all DVD disc. Any suggestions beside chunking it?

I have samsung DVD player (DVD-M108). It loads DVDs/CDs but does not read or takes too long. Then the display appears saying this disc cannot be played.

Had the R135 for less than a year, and probably burned less than 4 discs I've tried cleaning and using canned air, I'm pretty sure that the Loader Assembly is the culprit. In the past I've had OK luck with Samsung, but in the future will make them my last option.

We had the same problem. Got our Samsung R-130 for Xmas 2006. Now Xmas 2007 it no longer recognizes any discs - spits them out and says to check the disk. Even immaculate new movie DVDs do not work. It was a problem that developed over time - we thought it was scratched discs- we bought a cleaning disc and it was no good. I took it apart and cleaned all parts with ethanol and no improvements - so it's not an issue of dirtiness. The lack of support the rest of you received indicates Samsung is washing their hands of this rampant problem - very poor service. I'm never buying their crap again. What a waste! If anyone else figures it out please post - we would be very grateful.

i had mine for just over 3 months and it wouldn't load DVDs anymore. i really liked Samsung products but i am not too sure anymore I agree that they should do something about it.

I bought my Samsung DVD-R135 less than a year ago. It doesn't play DVDs anymore. I called Samsung, and they told me to buy a DVD cleaner, and I did, but it didn't help at all. So, I wasted more than $10.00 on a DVD cleaner for nothing. It is no longer playing DVDs. Samsung also told me it would be $70.00 for labor. After 3 months, labor is no longer included. I am thinking about filing a complaint with BBB. Would anyone else be interested in joining me?
thanks

I have the same problem with DVD R-130. It keeps on giving the Disc can not be played error while the same disc plays fine in my other DVD player. I have also contacted Samsung and their response was tthat hey ship more than million units and 1-2% are going to be defective. So much for customer service. Looks like that this is a design flaw if many folks are having the same issue.

Hello, I have the same DVD player and am experiencing the same exact problem. I cannot play any DVD's at all! It is extremely frustrating. Everytime we load a disc into the player, we get a message that says "disc cannot be played". I have tried to contact Samsung about this problem several times and they have been no help at all. They will not even provide you with a number for the corporate offices. I have had this player for under a year as well.
