Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players
I have a Toshiba dvd/vcr combo that I have hooked up to a satellite reception. I have finally been able to figure out how to get picture to come up and to be able to watch a video or dvd, but cannot program the recorder channels because it is showing only cable/tv to do this and without cable or satellite, I only get about three local channels, so I cannot record.
Can you help me get around this?
I talked to some very nice people at tech support 1-866-583-7353 and found out that my satellite reciever must be set to 480i, which of course is a pain since like I wanted High Definition. The composite a/v cables (red, white, yellow) are not high def and are part of the reason. I have TiVo and when recording a movie from TiVo to the DVD it states there as well to set the reciever at 480i. Once I did this I was able to record from the Sat to the DVD. I did a quick review and I couldn't find a combo set or just a dvd recorder that has component video cable (red, blue, green) or HDMI inputs at all, I'm thinking that all would have to be recorded at 480i.
