If noise is coming from inside freezer,,, the fan is probably hitting ice buildup,, and when you unplug fridge it thaws and noise goes away for a few days. sounds like a defrost problem.. either therostat is bad or heating element is broken and needs to be replaced

SOURCE: Amana Bottom Freezer door when shut starts a noise

The light is switched on and off by a small lever which is pushed when closing or opening the door. This operates a microswitch. It would not make any grinding noise. Grinding noise can come from the fanmotor which would also stop when the fridge door is open.

SOURCE: freezer working fridge not

Hi, With the information you supplied i'm going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the freezer...you should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. I have included links with pictures of what the parts you need to check are: http://romulusappliance.com/manufacturers/maytag/refrigerators/575432.JPG defrost stat http://www.hotekalliance.com/UploadFiles/2008627111553382.jpg heaters http://www.applianceblog.com/archives/EvapMotor1018185.jpg evap fan. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. If you decide to get a repair guy in should not cost you any more then $120 - $200 depending on make/model/problem Good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution Thanks!

My Amana fridge with a bottom freezer is making very fast clicking sounds coming from the front of the freezer.

As the switch gets used it starts to wear out. The clicking you are hearing is likely a faulty switch. Cheap and easy to DIY. Replace according to your series number.

My amana upright freezer was working fine, but transported it to another location when I plugged it back in, it started to make a buzzing noise. How do I turn this off or fix it?

Hello....First...when you transported the freezer...you must sure the unit stays in the vertical position and not laying on it's side...back..or front....If the freezer is making buzzing noises...adjust the thermostat setting down until the buzzing stops...and increase the setting gradually until the desired temp is reached...it could take 24 hours for it to stablize...I hope this was helpful.....PEACE.......

I have an Amana BG21 Firdge. It has been making a lot of noise for the past month. Noise is gone and fridge isn't very cold. Is it inexpensively fixable?

The noise is most likely the evaporator fan motor, it is pretty simple to replace. Just remove the rear panel in the freezer to access it, the part you need can be ordered at, Sears Parts. For more information on how to perform your repair please reply.

Loud humming noise (vibration) from freezer section when running. Amana refrigerator (freezer on bottom) model BC21VW

Remove the back panel and see if the fan is turning. You will need it in the running cycle with the door switch closed. The noise your hearing is probally the fan assembly AP4008960. Make sure it is mounted tight and the back panel is not rubbing or loose. If the fan is making noise with the panel removed replace.

Amana AFD2535DEW freezer/refrigerator with intermittent tempurature swings

I had the same issue. It was the relay overload which essentially provides the extra boost to get the compressor going. The switch tries for about 10 seconds before giving up and then retries 3 - 4 minutes later. In the early stages of failure, eventually it will work and the compressor will kick on. But eventually the switch will fail and will just cycle through the 10 second attempt every 3 to 4 minutes. The part is about $35 - part number 67005560.
