Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-52W4100 52 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

The color on my 3 year old 32" Bravia TV is primarily blue and green. The red and facial tones have basically disappeared. I have tried adjusting the color to no avail. Do you know if this is an adjustment or repair. if its a repair what is the component, the approximate cost of repair and if there are any repair sites in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks Don

Hi, it could be the LCD cable It's called It's called Red Solarization. It could be the LVDS cable..or the panel control board...or the panel itself..some control boards only come with panel..unless you've changed a panel before I would advise you to take to a repair shop now the price will vary, if its the lcd panel it self the price could range 400/700 USD however this is less likely or it could just be the Red Solarization (lcd cable) which will cost 20/30USD. either way i would reccoment taking it to the repair facility here is a list of places.

Poor Picture

Hello,

It's a convergence issue. Go into the main TV menu under video settings and look for convergence. If it has an auto convergence select that and wait a minute the TV will adjust itself and give you a clear picture.
If the TV does not have an auto convergence and just regular convergence than select this. It will give you a grid pattern on your TV and you have to move the curser (using TV remote) and adjust each "point" so that each line is perfectly white. If you notice red or blue anywhere on that "line" then you have to adjust using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to "line up the red and blue lines with the nearest white line. It taked time and patience to do, but when completed, all lines on the grid pattern should be pure white and you will have a great looking picture.
You have to do this will all TV inputs (Video1, Video2 and so on) the reason Zoom looks good, is because you never used that screen as much and so the lenses didn't have a chance to get out of synch.
RPTV's are made of the three lenses (red, Blue and Green) and as you watch TV, these lenses slowly get out of alignment. So you should do a convergence about twice a year to make sure nothing is out of whack.
Hope this help....

the problem is at the crt base .there r three red, blue n green o/put.verify if there is dry in the soldering n check the red cathode voltage it must b around 150 .if not then check the resistor that feeds the red o/put.it could b 12 to 15k. all crt have 3 driver color red blue n green, whenever one driver not working the color changes.that wat happened to ur tv now i do not know wat model u have.the drivers may b transistors or now its ic that r being used like tda 6103q.best of luck

My picture has a green and blue hue to it.

After spending a day trying to fix the TV, I found out the problem was actually with my cable box. I have an HD DVR recorder. We unplugged the cable box and plugged the TV directly into the cable in the wall and it worked. So we took the cable box back to our cable company and got a new cable box. (Can't live without the DVR!!)

Connecting old DVD player to LCD

Just respect the colors. Green output from the dvd to green input tv, Red output from the dvd to red input tv and the same with blue. All 3 cables (green , red, blue) are for the picture, so you got to plug another 2 for the sound.

Sony bravia lcd tv-

If you are using a HD cable box or satelite with component outputs, be sure that all 3 cables ( green, red, and blue ) are making good connection.A loss of red or blue will cause color shift. Usually,if the tv menu comes up as the correct color but the picture dose'nt, it is most likely a signal problem.
