The only way to recharge an RV unit is to drill a small hole in the return line of the system and solder a schrader valve on the line. Once this is completed, you will need to pull a vacuum on the system for at least 12 hours, making sure there are no leaks. The only reason that your unit would need freon is because it has a developed a leak. If you can pinpoint the leak, then it may be able to be repaired and the system recharged. Careful of this however as it can get more expensive than a new upper unit costs.

Where you running the unit of low fan/cool mode when it froze up? This will often cause this to happen in the summer months due to the lack of fan speed at the condenser and the evaporator. Both fans are on the same motor.

Hope this helps.

My Amana ptac unit is blowing air but it's not coming out of the unit as cold as it should therefore never reaching the desired temp of 65...does my unit need 2 be recharged or are lines froze...???

it's known as the split. Room air going into the unit should be 10 to 12 degrees cooler coming out. Unit size, area to be cooled, insulation value and local weather are considered. If the split is close to the numbers the unit is doing all it can. If it's low on freon the evaporation coils will freeze and ice over.

Amana ptac unit blows air, it feels kind of cool, but it's set at 65 and it's not reaching the desired temp... does it need 2 be recharged or are my lines possibly froze...???

If the unit is frozen you should be able to see ice at the indoor coil. If you pull the air filters and peer inside to the indoor coil there may be ice. Either way it needs service. If no ice and blowing cool not cold it could be the condenser coil is dirty. On the outside you can see the air leaving side of the condenser coil. The air entering side is the side that gets dirty and can only be seen by pulling the unit out of the wall. Its best to leave it in the wall and call a tech that has experience with ptacs.

The system has a refrigerant leak. The leak needs to be found and repaired and the system recharged. Not a do it yourself project.

No cool air is coming out of vents. Checked Filters OK, Cruited breakers OK, vents OK not blocked. Could it be low on freon and compressor froze up and I should wait for ice to melt than possibly get...

Yes let the ice melt on the evap coil and the outside line. You either have a low charge or you might check your filter dryer on the outside lines this could be stopped up. you will will have a temp drop across the filter if it is stopped up. If not it is possible to be low on charge. Is the inside fan turning and turning the right direction. If the inside fan is not turning it will cause the evap coil to freeze up.

Ruud air conditioner froze outside an the fan runs but no air flow through house. what is causing it to do this

Turn your a/c system off and thaw out the inside coil, it will be a block of ice by now. After you get it all thawed out turn the system on and see if your inside blower runs and that the filter and coil are clean. If they are both clean and the blower works then your system is low on refrigerant and needs service by a technician who needs to repair the leak(s) and recharge your system.

I have a Superior heavy duty commercial upright freezer that has stopped freezing. It gets cold but doesn't freeze. Is there a reset button on it? The compressor comes on but it's not getting cold enough...

Check if the condensing coil(the one by the compressor) is clog with dirt or grease ,if yes unplugged and clean it real good with a degreaser , also make sure the fan works , if all this is ok and you see the coil inside is partially frozed up ,could be that is low in refrigerant what means there's a leak that has to be fixed before recharge the unit.

My zen froze

To properly charge the Zen should be in the on position. Disconnect it, turn it off. Leave it off for about 10 minutes. It should reset. Turn it on and reconnect it to recharge. Do not attempt to do anything else until it completely recharges, to repeat: Let it charge in the on position.

Optio s6 frozen

By recharging the battery, and then restart the camera, it may just work.

Because you were working on a movie in the camera at the time it quit, that file may be corrupted.

It would be interesting to see what has happened on this problem.

Have a coleman evcon heating & cooling furnace froze up had ice on coil / top of unit. Husband cut the unit off to thaw out not the unit will not come back on.

Freon (charge) is low. Contact a service man with the proper gauges to check theunit. It will have to be evacuated, nitrogen pressure tested, and then recharged.. Depending on the size of the unit, this cold be about 200-400$.
