Question about Toshiba Satelite 2410 Notebook

1 Answer

Screen wont stay up.

The hinges in my satellite 2410-603 are finished. The screen just flops about now. I have ordered the hinges from a toshiba service center but I am not sure how to go about replacing them. Is there a service manual available for this model or a guide anywhere? I've searched hi and low but cant find a thing.

Re: Screen wont stay up.

I used a small screwdriver tool set from Radio Shack (about $15) and then I used guides (free) to get into the guts of the laptop. These guides are step by step and easy to follow. They didn't have my model, but they have a similare on and the info helped me get mine changed. Mine had gotten rock hard. Read the front page of the site for cautionary information in toshiba laptops as there are small parts in there. You want a working laptop when it's finished.

How to change lcd screen on toshiba satellite 2455-s305? need to change the screen on my toshiba laptop.....looking for step by step instructions on how to remove old screen and can not find anything...

Open the screen as far as it will go naturally. (should lay almost flat with the base) Using flat screwdriver, pry up the hinge cover on the base....there should be two groves to get under it......dont worry you wont break it as long as you dont force it too much, just keep working it till it some you will a set of hinges, prolly with the screws on each hinge.......remove theres a cable connecting the LCD, you must make sure you remove this one carefully, as not to damage the connectino on the base......on some models, yo must also remove the keyboard by removing the screws associated with it as well.....once again, dont worry, its all cut and dry, and pretty self explanatory once you get those first few pieces and screws off.......once that wire is disconnected you have completely removed your laptops LCD!!!!!! :D GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!!!!

Toshiba Satellite 2450

It sounds like the hinge itself is broken. I have a relative with exactly the same problem, her laptop screen became floppy and didnt stay in the upright position. The hinges for the screen are complicated in that they appear to come as a top/bottom part already joined together, and need to be replaced as such. The metal used for the hinges is really flimy and easily snaps. this sounds like what has happened to yours. The problem is that is appears to be not econimcally viable to repair, and your probably better off scrapping it or buying another with say;.. a cracked screen and doing a swap-over of parts to get one fully working one (thats what I did)

Cover will not stay opened

It sounds like you need new hinges for your computer. I didn't see any for your particular model on eBay which would be the best place to look but you may be able to contact Toshiba and order replacement hinges. To replace the hinges, you will need to remove the bezel from the LCE screen and possibly the power button board, depending on how your particular laptop is put together.

Your hinges have gone and can be easily replaced. the difficulty will come when you try to by them. Try if you cant find the hinges give them a ring.
