Chime on steady tone with the headlights on

My 2001 Jetta has a similar problem that started after a thorough cleaning of the inside and an oil change... so, not sure what we may have hit to cause the chime problems.
The drivers door light stays on constant and does not go out (even after the car is turned off). The chime comes on when you start the car (blinking tone) - this goes out after about one minute. When the headlights are turned on, the tone (chime) comes on steady and does not go off.
Will take a look at the door sensor in the drivers side - may help the steady light; but - any suggestions on the steady tone (chime) with the headlights on would be appreciated!

2001 vw passat, seat belt chime stays on, and if you turn on the headlights, sound is a continuous buzzing. Any ideas how to fix?

Yes, the same way I did. Locate the wire in the buckle that sends the signal and unhook it. My jetta did the same thing. A friend that had a similar problem with his chevy found the wire was one piece with no connections, he found the little speaker for the chime and cut the wire. One method or the other, both worked, Grim

I am in the Army and away from home attending a course and my wife calls me to inform me that a steady warning chime is going off inside the truck. When I asked to hear the chime it sounds to me like it...

The headlight switch turns on the courtesy light when twisted. Tell her to make sure that the headlight switch is twisted off the indent. If this isn't it, it may be the body control module.

2001 Chevy Malibu has a 3 tone alert beep that I don't recognize, it's not the regular chime for door open or trunk open what is it. Have had no start issues with car and theft lock is flashing

That model was known for lock cylinder ans ignition switch problems for the no start and theft lock concern. The chime issue could be a problem or not check in your owners manual for chime sounds.I remember when working on these cars they have different chime sounds for different selected options that could be changed and I also had some problems with the BCM body control module causing some weird issues with these models.

How to change volkswagen Jetta (2001) headlights?

#1. DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR HANDS. The oils, no matter how clean your hands are, will greatly shorten the lifr of the bulb.

#2 Open the hood, on the back of the headlight housing there are two covers. 1 is curved and held with metal retainers, and the other is plastic. You want to remove the curved one by sliding aside the metal retainers, carefully with a screwdriver.

#3 Unplug the connecter attached to the bulb.

#4 Next there is a plastic retainer holding in the bulb. A quick turn one way or the other and that's off. The bulb is free.

Installation is just the reverse, make sure you get the plastic retainer (#4) on the correct way otherwise the bulb will either fall out or be at an odd angle

The sensor/ switch on the door jam is faulty. It is possibly just dirty, or stuck, or a wire has broken.
