SOURCE: Troy Bilt Trimmer 75SS stalls at full throttle. new gas
Hello. Let me assist you. Since your trimmer runs but stalls at ful throttle it is telling you that there is a fuel problem. Not enough gas is getting through the carbeurator to satisfy the engines needs on full throttle. Most likely the carbeurator is gummed up. A common problem. Let's see if we can un gum it by getting a can or carbeurtor cleaner. Go to any auto parts store and talk to the clerk about your need.
SOURCE: How to replace air filter on Troy-bilt TB20CS?
May be air filter but sounds more like your muffler is stopped up. First take the muffler off and see if it runs better without it. If so, burn the carbon out of the muffler and clean the muffler port on the engine. If not, then remove the four screw at the very end and disassemble. The ait filter is in that area. Remove spark plug and pour 5mls or one teaspoon of premixed gas in the engine. Depress trottle to full with choke on "run", pull starter about 10 to 12 times If it starts and run for a while and then shuts off your carb needs servicing. If not remove muffler and look for a spark arrestor screen. This could be plugged up with soot. If it is, replace and this would have been your problem. While the muffler is off slowly pull starter rope and examine the piston if gas and oil oozes backwards as the piston moves to the top then the piston and rings need replacing.

SOURCE: Troy-Bilt TB70SS will not start
Hi. Go to any auto parts store and get a can of starter fluid. Have a helper squirt a little into the air cleaner while u start it up. Then continue to squirt the starter fluid to keep it running until the engine sounds good again. J.
