SOURCE: is front drivers side wheel

depends on what you mean by "hard" if your mechanically inclined no, if you aren't, yes. You will need to remove the tire, the brake assembly and then get a large (32 or 34mm probably) socket to take off the spindle nut, I think on the dakota you have to remove the ball joint with a ball joint separator, remove the bearing assembly from the half shaft. (standard procedure on most vehicles) Hope this helps!

SOURCE: 2006 dodge ram 2500 4x4 diesel replace brake pads front and back

Straight forward job. Remove wheels, remove 2 caliper bolts per wheel, check bolts, and bushings for wear/corrosion and lubricate, remove calipers, remove brake pads, push caliper pistons into calipers, replace anti-rattle clips, put new pads in, put caliper and bolts in, put wheels on. Start truck and press brake pedal several times to take up slack and you're done.

Rack and pinion? have play in wheel no sign of leaks new power steering pump installed

Hi Gunny, If your vehicle is fitted with rack and pinion steering also check the rack ends for play. The rack ends are the rods which the tie rod ends screw onto. The other end fits onto the rack of the rack and pinion. To work on those you will need to remove the rubber boots and loosen the locking washer, they can then be loosened with a wrench. If they are worn the play will be evident in the steering. When replacing them also replace the rubber boots. If the boots are worn and road grime and dust enters, you will see leakage from the rack and pinion in the near future. I always thought the Dakota was fitted with a steering box? Regards John

Leaking power steering fluid 1997 dodge dakota

Is this a gear box (used on 4X4's) or a rack and pinion? In any event the shaft seals do develop leaks, the best thing to do is just install a rebuilt unit, install a good quality rebuilt steering unit either from the dealer or from a company called A1Cardone. Trying to rebuilt the old one will likely only fix the problem short term and requires special tools.
Could you please rate my help for Fixya, it is all I ask for my time and effort. Thanks

Steering is realy touchy need to slow it down on dodge dakota 1997 rack pinion was wondering how to adjust it or if can it acts like it is getting to much pressure to the rack

This could be a couple of things, most like none of them to do with the steering gear itself. If you are used to older types of steering systems that use connecting rods/idler arms/pitman arms, you will need to adjust to the faster response of a rack and pinion steering system. If the problem is that the vehicle seems to "jump" when you give the least bit of pressure to the steering wheel, it could be one of a few things. Tire pressure or belt separation can cause handing issues. Improper alignment, even if the vehicle seems to have no issues with left-or-right pull, can cause erratic steering performance and can amplify issues with hydroplaning in wet conditions. If you have had steering parts replaced, or changed and/or rotated tires recently, I would check those areas first. Lastly, I would ensure that you are using the correct power steering fluid in your rack. Many people use DEXRON ATF, but that is not the recommended fluid for the Dakota rack.

How do i bleed my power steering, level i good but a little stiff, 2005 dodge dakota quad cab 4.7 liter 4x4

you don't bleed your power steering, just make sure it's full,if you have any air in the system it will work itself out,if your steering is stiff could be be a sign of a worn unit or the rack and pinion.
