Grinding sounds

The case screws can come loose and grind on the planetary. To see if that's the problem you need to pop the chrome drip ring off that covers part of the planetary. It's just a push fit, pop off with screwdriver tapped with a hammer.

Spring came off internally from speed control plate

It goes right inside on the inner end of the speed control lever. You need to remove the chrome drip ring, planetary and 9x gearcase screws. Split the gear cases apart to do this job, there is no other way.

Can't get the drive coupling off my Bosch Universal to replace it

I have had my Bosch Universal Mixer with the Blender and Food Processor Attachments since 2005, and I've loved it since the day I got it... that is, until the blender broke while my son was crushing ice to make slushies...

I figured out the "drive coupler" was stripped and needed replacing, but I couldn't figure out how to take apart the "blade assembly" which includes the "drive coupler" part...

My retailer, Pleasant Hill Grain, sent me the following email:

"I am not aware of any printed instructions for removing the old coupling and
replacing with the new. We recommend holding on to the blades with 1 hand and a
towel and using a needle nose pliers to unscrew the old coupling. You would put
the new coupling on in the same manner.
If these instructions do not work, I would suggest contacting the Service
Dept at Kitchen Resources in Utah. Their phone is 800-692-6724."

I still couldn't figure out how to take apart the blade assembly, so I did end up calling the distributor, Kitchen Resources...

Dave, the tech @ Kitchen Resources, answered my call on the first ring...

Once I explained my problem, he started giving me the same instructions Pleasant Hill Grain gave
me... I explained to him that holding the blades tightly wasn't working for me.

As it turned out, holding the blades did not secure the drive shaft because
the drive shaft was broken off INSIDE the blade assembly - which is why I could
not unscrew the old drive coupling part.

Dave's next question revealed the true issue at hand... my Blender Attachment has the blade assembly made of plastic - they switched to plastic
in 2005 because the metal assembly turned black in dishwashers.

Bosch just recently went back to using metal for this part - apparently the
plastic blade assembly didn't hold up.

Kitchen Resources - the U.S. Bosch Distributor - is sending me a new blade
assembly - no charge, he said it's covered under warranty. Woo Hoo!

Best of all, I hadn't yet purchased the replacement drive coupling part, because
I wanted to know how to go about replacing the part before ordering a new part.

With shipping this part would have been a $50+ repair - you have to love
customer service of that caliber!

[Aside: You really don't need to ever put this part in the dishwasher - wash
the inside with by putting hot water and perhaps a little dish detergent inside
the blender and turning it on - rinse the outside under the sink... no
dishwasher needed! ]

Kitchen aid mixer leaking yellow oil is it repairable it still tu

It can be. This may require replaing the plate that the shaft comes through, since there is now enough play to allow the grease that is in the nead to leak through. You can find the parts online, but be ware, it involves tapping out pins and undoing many screws. Manuals are available online at Kitchenaid.com

Regarding the Sunbeam Mixmaster (model 2346): How do I remove the front cover of the mixer so that I may reallign or replace the beater gears?

Pry the beater release button out with a screwdriver. There are two screws underneath it and one under the motor housing between the the beater holes. This will allow you to remove the chrome front cover, but not the motor and drive assembly. Getting to the part that contains the gears requires complete disassembly of the mixer. It is not designed for service, and requires patience and a variety of tools to disassemble.

It has a metal worm gear and plastic drive gears. If the beaters are out of alignment, then one or both of the plastic gears are stripped and the mixer is junk. Repair plus shipping costs equals the price of a new mixer. This is the weak point of these mixers and a fundamental flaw in an otherwise robust and sturdy design. It is definitly not the same mixer *********** bought 30 years ago.

Broken mixer switch

To disassemble: Pull the rear cover off by prying on the bottom edge. It snaps in and hinges at the top. Remove the small oval cover on the front by prying, then remove the phillips screw. Remove the protective slider off the bottom. The 2 case halves then need to be separated by prying.

My daughter dropped it (again) and speeds 2 and 3 failed to work so I disassembled it and found a broken center terminal on the power transistor. I saw a fine crack so I soldered it. I also added much needed strain relief to the heat sink. It works fine now. This is a poor design. The power device has a heat sink attached and there is no strain relief so the transistor can move back and forth at least 3/8". For a tool that sees a lot of vibration and shock, this heat sink should be tie strapped or have hot melt glue to prevent movement. Gary
