A steamer is what I use but you may not have that tool. VERY hot water can be poured into the cavity/drain hole over and over till it freely flows out the bottom to the tray or you can just turn off the refer for a day with the door open to let it thaw. To prevent freeze plug again you can hang a small copper wire on the heat element that dangles down into the first inch of the hole so when a defrost cycle turns on it will trasnfer heat and keep the hole from freezing up. A #10 or #12 copper wire usually transfers enough heat to keep the hole from freezing up.

Check to see if your refer has a climate controll ie: humidity setting, some models of refers swet when the humidity is high, if it doesn't have this setting turn your freezer setting down alittle. GL hope this helps.

The tray of the ice cube maker is connected to the water valve with a small plastic tube. In time, due to the repeated stresses caused by the freeze-thaw process that tube gets loose and pops out of the tray or simply bursts.
You must take out the ice mechanism and reattach or replace the tube.
