Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer
My printer will not print black, but prints color without a problem. I followed the instructions for the nozzle check, cleaning, and then deep cleaning. The areas that are to print black, do not show anything. I've purchased new ink cartridges but it is still not printing.
I had same problem today. Removed print head and bathed it in alcohol for half an hour. Then I removed the two screws underneath and used a syringe to squirt alcohol into the ports and clean. I noticed clumps of ink coming out (i guess some ports were blocked). I then dried the head and reinserted and reinstalled ink tanks. All looks good so far- black printing again and printed test patterns all look correct. Good luck.

Thank you, gringo11
Removing 2 screws underneath and clean it do the job!
I had this problem twice! The black pigment from number 5 cartridge did not print at all. First time, I just bought new printing head, thought it was end of unit life because I had it for a year of heavy use. Second unit last only 6 months so I decided to do some internet research.
And I Fix Ya!
