Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver

1 Answer

While driving, shuts off, then "reboots"

The above subject (shuts off and reboots) can happen 2 or three times in a row, coming up to the "disclaimer" screen where you press "agree" and then it comes back on. Might drive 100 miles until it happens again. Bothersome when it happens at a point where you need the directions! I bought unit a few weeks ago as a "reconditioned" unit. If any advise, I'd appreciate it! Larry

Re: while driving, shuts off, then "reboots"

The same happened to me. Its a faulty machine, I think. Other things were wrong as well. In the end I bought a Tom Tom 720 and have had no problem since

While on the road with garmin active, unit will shut down then reboot if plugged into the car. just shut down if not plugged in and has to be turned on manually. comes back right back to where it left...

Have you tried updating the system software from the Garmin site? Is the battery charging? You might have a bad connection with you cable. Have you tried resetting the unit by turning it off then holding the power button to on and holding it for10 or more seconds?
I will attach a link to the Garmin site for you to update the system software

Magellan roadmate3055 model I took it out of my car and took in the house to program my phone number from my cell to the blue tooth of the magellan now it like frozen only thing that comes up warning about...

This is normal, this come straight of the satellite. To speed up process or bypass, reboot system. To Manually reboot this model, turn unit off like normal. Then when turning on, keep button down as it fires up, DO NOT release on button, keep it down until all fires up and even about 10 seconds passed, then let go. This reboots it and cleans up a lot of ****. Thanks Mike. Please if this helps, please give me 4 thumbs up, to help me and others.

I have a pioneer avic-f900bt and it keep turning off. it powers up for a couple of seconds and then it shuts off what could that be please help me.

I appear to have the same issue with mine. I purchased mine from Audio Itch in Tampa, Fl in December of 2008 and had them install it with an amp and speakers. Worked fine for almost exactly a year. Upon starting up my car, it powered up and gave the system powering up notice, then went blank. Rebooting with the small restart pinhole button sometimes works, but most of the time it will start powering up again, then shut off????

My garmin nuvi 265 will keep shutting down and rebooting while being used. any suggestions, it is just over 1 year old and this happens whether on battery power or if connected to DC power

I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265W.

Getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, or freezing and rebooting, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265W running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

Garmin shutdown and restart from time to time

I just bought one at Best Buy and within three hours it has already shut down and restarted one time. Apparently Garmin Company is not what it used to be! Hopefully they will get the bugs out of this new one somewhere in the future...I hope. I would try the reset thing and cross your fingers that it helps.. Turn off and hold the off/on switch down for at least ten seconds. These units appear to be full of bugs at this time.

Garmin bluetooth won't disconnect call

Solution below works for NUVI660 as well; ignore everything after step 6 but DO reboot and delete previously existing connections.

good luck

I was having the same problem with my Curve and Nuvi 680. What has fixed this for me is downgrading the Bluetooth firmware version on the Nuvi itself. I was running version 3.0 (you can check your version by going to Settings -> System -> About on the Nuvi) -- I had success after downgrading to version 2.4.

It's a bit of a convoluted process, but here is the procedure I followed:

1. Download the old Nuvi BT firmware from the Garmin Italy website:

2. Connect your Nuvi to your PC.

3. Go into the X:GarminRemoteSW and look for a file called 006B055301.GCD (where X: is your Nuvi drive)

4. Back up that file to your
computer, and delete it from the Nuvi.

5. Extract the file in the zip downloaded in step 1 to the X:GarminRemoteSW directory

6. Disconnect your Nuvi from your computer, and let it

7. Click on "View Map," then touch the "Speed" in the lower left corner.

8. You should have the "Dashboard" view up. Touch and hold the "Moving Average" box for ~15 seconds until the diagnostic screen appears.

9. Press the "next" button until you arrive at the "Bluetooth Status" screen (5-6 screens in)

10. Click "Updt PR" and then click "Yes"

11. Reboot the Nuvi, delete the existing bluetooth pairing, and attempt to re-pair with your BlackBerry.

Seems to work perfectly now -- please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
