I don't quite understand why this would happen after pluggin in a USB mouse - but I've seen it numerous times after a liquid has been spilled on a keyboard.

Sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. Best way to test this is to plug in an external usb keyboard and see if you can type normally on it.

If the laptop keyboard exhibits this behavior, and the external keyboard doesn't - you should replace the laptop keyboard.

if you are using word simply type out whatever you want to write, select the entire text, right click to go to format and in the dialogue box select single spacing.

I would suspect that this is more of a powerpoint settings problem that a mouse problem.

Check for debris below and around the carrier, put some light oil on the silver shaft that the carrier slides on (wd40 works well) DickyO

The language bar next to the System Tray should disappear, and CTFMON.EXE will unload from memory.
