Question about Freezers

1 Answer

Hello, we have a three year old LG GR-359SQ Fridge freezer. Firstly, everything works fine with the unit but at the bottom of the freezer compartment is a 30cm x 30cm by 10mm deep trough that in a space of 1 to 2 weeks fill up with solid Ice. I have checked the evaporating tray round the back of the unit and it is dry - so dry that I do not think that defrosting water is reaching there. I have taken the plastic tube from the back of the unit and it is clear. I have tried to push a flexible rod up into the freezer compartment where the drain tube connects and there is something solid (not Ice) stopping this flexy rod entering the freezer compartment so that it can defrost. Can you make any comments?

Try adjusting the levelers on the bottom I like to see 1/4 bubble on a level if you don't have a level no problem just so it slopes to the back. good luck Tom

Find the water drain hole/pipe and clean it thoroughly with a pipe cleaner or other softish flexible rod. That should allow the water to drain away. Make sure back of the unit is clear and clean so water drains and evaporates off properly.

How do I get the open door chime to stop on Kenmore Fridge?

I had this problem also. My problem was that the drainage tube that keeps the refrigerator compartment dry was plugged up with the foil backing used in the freezer compartment. This foil backing is used to line the closed cell foam which insulates the defrost heat fins from coming in contact with the plastic back panel. It took a service call from a local repairman two times to unplug the line. We peeled off the foil lining which was the source of the plug.

This solution stopped the "door open"/"instant freeze" cycle sound. My fridge is about 6 years old.

Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Ice forming at bottom of Daewoo freezer. How do I fix this

Look on the back of the unit for a plastic hose coming out the bottom to a drain pan usually sat on top of the compressor. Bend a straw and push up inside. If it won;t go, there is a blockage, usually ice in the drain. Fully defrost the freezer and blow through the straw until clear.

drain plug and or line probably plugged should be clear if ice was problem in between the casing shouldnt be a problem let unit run normal and check temp the amount of high humidity and usage [open and closing of doors] has caused a lot of frost free and regular units to frost and or ice up

My Maytag side by side fridge freezer is leaking at the bottom and ice is collecting at the bottom of the freezer. I cannot find any model number but think it's about 6 years old

The drain is clogged behind the wall in the freezer you can do one of three things take the back wall inside the freezer off and thaw the drain in the bottom and clear it out,Pay someone else to do this,or you can mover your food for a day unplug the unit open the freezer door and leave it off for 24 hours allowing the ice to clear from the drain, seems to happen about every five or six years with Maytags..

If its freezing at the back that indicates refrigeration is good. it sounds like you have a thermostat control problem. Replace the thermostat.

defrost drain is blocked - probably with ice. take the back panel off inside the freezer and melt the ice off with a hairdryer then follow up with hot water till it flows away freely. this takes some patience. if fault reoccurs then get back to me
