The PSN is not back up for everyone. They are rolling it back up slowly and not all accounts are currently activated. Undo all you have done and restore your account to your original setup and be patient. You and about 3 million other people are not yet able to access the system. This will be resolved in the coming days, but you may not be able to access the system for up to three weeks more. This is the official statement from Sony.

Are you dragging and dropping files from the WD passport to a folder on your computer? If so which folder? It may be that you are trying to copy the files into a Windows system directory.
Try dragging and dropping the files to a folder on your Desktop or under My Documents.

Please leave feedback for this solution, thanks.

My western digital passport drive has the following issues. 1. when I play a movie it keeps stopping and starting like its streaming. then it will eventually freeze up. 2. I have tried several times to...

First, check your computer to make sure it is keeping up with the job. In Windows, open Task Manager (Control-Alt-Delete), click on Performance, and look for the CPU graph. If it is maxed out, or if the amount of memory in use is greater than the physical memory installed in the computer (using the internal hard drive for memory), the computer is having trouble keeping up with the workload. Quit any programs not needed for playing the movie, including those resident in the task bar. You may also need to do a scan for Trojan Horses stealing processor time. Add more physical memory if necessary and possible. In Mac OS X, open Activity Monitor and check the CPU and System Memory tabs.

There are at least three external hard drive models that meet your description, including one designed for playing movies (Passport AV). If you are running Windows, try the "Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows" download for the Passport Essential to see what it finds. Save it and install it on your computer's internal drive, then use it to check the Passport unit.

If that doesn't fly, you may have to disassemble the Passport and install its hard drive as a second internal hard drive in a computer. Use a S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic program (Data Lifeguard, or one of the Linux equivalents) to inspect the drive's internal problem tracking registers. If the diagnostic program works on the Passport, but reports problems with the drive mechanism, that's your answer.

If the drive works properly inside a computer, but misbehaves in the Passport case, you have a problem with the cable, the USB interface, or the Passport's power supply.

Regarding the firmware updater: It is not for the plain-Jane Passport Essential model (WDMExx3200). The program should be saved and run from your computer's internal drive, not the targeted Passport drive (the drive can't do read operations while its firmware is being updated).

I deleted my user now all my saved stuff is gone can i get it back

Sorry, but one you delete your user account, you can never get the save games back (unless you hack your ps3 which is illegal, if you get to hack your ps3, you'll be able to see the contents of the PS3's hard drive just like how you would using a computer. You can then move the save game contents from your deleted user to a new user.. yes if you delete a user all the save games from that user account is still saved on the ps3)

If you do not want to go through the hacking process, then all your stuff is lost except for the Trophies which is saved on the PSN server...

Deleted files in error

some of the files will still be there... depends on how much data was copied ....

the software i have successfully used before is called STELLAR PHOENIX although there are many other similar programs i am sure. some may be shareware though this one is not....

this program will look for the data string that occurs at the start of a photo or mp3 or document and try to salvage it...

google the phoenix

good luck, its complicated to use but does work...

very important not to save anything else on the drive. the more you use that drive the less you will salvage...

please rate if useful

Recover deleted files from Cruzer?

Since you are using Macbook, you can go to this program USB Flash Drive Recovery for Mac for help. If you are running a computer with Windows, go to Data Recovery for Windows. It should help you out.
Note: before recovery, DO NOT save more files to the USB drive.
