Question about Frigidaire FRS3R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
Replaced water filter with wrong type...thought the refrig was newer...put 2000 model filter in...should have been prior to 1999 model....didn't work...put correct filter in now....problem is I must unscrew the filter cover after not using the water for a few hours....then it works ok......If I use the water often...at least once a hour or so....it works ok....also, the filter cover is very hard to unscrew....never had to use two hands before, but must do so now...what can I do to fix?
Hello, Sounds like you have a couple of problems. First I think that the particular filter you are working with is the WFCB and the WF1CB? Either should work without a problem. Is your water pressure low? Is it above 30psi? I would look at those issues and if that does not do it I would replace the filter. The cover issue is due to the o-ring drying out. The o-ring needs to be lubricated and this will allow the housing to unscrew much easier. Go to your locale appliance parts dealer or other outlet and ask for the right lubricant for the o-ring. Should use a sillicone grease designed for this application as this will work the best. Good Luck! Dr. Know
