Can't see my buffalo usb ministation under my computer

I can't see my buffalo ministation usb portable external hard drive under my computer but i can see it in safely remove hardware on my Fujitsu Lifebook T4215 32-bit Vista Ultimate. instead of a drive letter assigned to it, it says its an USB Mass Storage Device at Port_#0001.Hub_#0005 when I check it under the "Safely Remove Hardware" window. Funny thing is, I can see it and a drive letter is assigned to it when I plug it to my other vista pc. What gives?

Right click on my computer click manage, then in the new screen click on disk management, can you see the device there? if so right click on it and click delete partition, then after right click and make a partition and format it with a quick format, this should then show it in mycomputer ,this will delete all data on the hard drive!

Hi i cannot open my hard drive in my computer, the computer is saying it needs to be formated. there was never a problem before today. any ideas??

first be sure to have a working and updated antivirus program on your computer
second use the chkdsk command (in a command prompt) and run it on yor usb external drive
(let's say your usb external drive is F:, so the command will be chkdsk f:)
after that everything will work again

Good luck!

I can't Open my External Hard Disk Buffalo HD-PXT320U2/W-AP .. How can i solve this problem .. ?? The Interface view I/O Error Device .. Thamls for yOur hElp ..

I/O Error Device means that the pc cannot communicate with your external HDD - either the USB cable is broken (replace it) or its control board has failed. If it's the latter then the Buffalo is dead, get a new one.

I cannot open my portable usb 2.0 500GB harddisk pls help me to solve it ... thk you

Portable hard drives are extremely useful. Make sure you have both HD cords connected correctly One coming from your HD to your PC and the other as a power cord. From there, you should simply click "Start" go to "My Computer" and your external drive should show up right there.

Try accessing it in another USB port or computer. If still not, it may unfortunately be damaged. You may be able to get it replaced under warranty.

recording from an external hard-disk to a DMR Dear Sir or Madam, I have just purchased the DMR-BST835EG Blu-Ray Recorder, which has many attractive features. In fact, I also recommended this product to a friend of mine. My prime intention is to transfer some Internet downloaded .MKV-HD and .MP4-HD movies, presently stored on a Buffalo USB-powered external hard-disk, onto the Panasonic recorder's internal (1TB) hard-disk. However, after registering the said USB-HDD on the DMR, its driver is no longer recognized on my computer...and it has to be re-formatted via the PC, with the result that the Blu-Ray recorder again refuses to copy video files from it. What can I do? This article (the DMR) was purchased, for over EUR 600, from EBay, mainly for the above-stated purpose, repeat: copying the HD films, presently kept on external hard-disks, onto the Panasonic recorder (so as to transfer the files onto Blu-Ray discs later on). Please treat as urgent, as I would like to start using the Panasonic article accordingly, and my friend also needs this information before buying the DMR-BST835EG (too). I earnestly await your reply. Thanks in anticipation for your time and attention. Best regards, Ivan Micallef P.S.: Is there some firmware update which could enable the USB-HDD >> HDD (1 Terabyte) recording ? This is an option which should be possible, also according to the DMR's "Copy Video" menu. ; According to various website blogs, many other clients are facing the same problem - what we are askingfor is for the elimination of the USB-HDD registration request. ; Preferably, the external hard-disk accepted/recognized by the Panasonic DMR should remain in the NTFS format and not changed to the FAT32 system. Thanks again.
