My bjc 1000 canon printer has a probem with the paper feed ? as the printer engaged to feed the paper the paper move to the right hand side and then gets screwed up .thanks

This is very simple. Pull out the screwed up paper back out very slowly. Look at its leading edge for an indent. Lay the paper back on the feeder. Now the indent will line up with the foreign object that has fallen into the printer. It may be a paper clip, staple or pin from a cork board behind the printer on the wall. Unfold a large paperclip and use this as a tool to retrieve the object. Always works.

Printer only takes paper from one end resulting in a paper jam

I would not have believe this if I have not actually experienced it. Today, my Canon PIXMA MP470 started feeding my paper crooked, to the right where the feed roller is located. Did some research and found numerous people discovered foreign objects inside their printers. Since I had tried numerous other solutions, such as maintenance cleanings from the printer control area. I decided to unplug the printer, turn it upside down and shake it, hoping to dislodge a foreign object. It didn't work. I then took compressed air and sprayed vigorously inside the printer, and tried it again. It didn't work. I then took some card stock (the type used for making greeting cards), put it into the printer and began printing a word processed document - just something to get the card stock to enter the printer. I manually forced it into the printer as it started to print, then after the card stock was about two inches into the printer I manually pulled the card stock back, and THERE IT WAS! My memory card insertion slot protector from my netbook! Thank you Jesus! It is a small piece of black plastic that had fallen from the top of my printer, where I had foolishly placed it while I was using the memory slot in my netbook. Printer works great again! I hope this helps someone!

Will not print because paper always jams

Perhaps there is paper still jammed inside the printer that you cannot see (or little bits from a previous jam)

1) Turn off the power
2) Disconnect the power cord and USB cable
3) Open the rear cover and see if paper is jammed inside the cassette area. Gently remove any paper and make sure no little bits of paper are left inside
4) Open the scanning unit (printer cover) and check that no paper is stuck internally. Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer.
5) Reattach the power cord and USB cable
6) Power On and retry your print job

Paper feed not straight, causing jambing

You need to look inside the slot where the paper is loaded with a flashlight and small mirror. Usually the only reason that happens is when something has fallen in where the paper goes. I usually find pins, paper clips, candy wrappers, or jewelry dropped inside. A paper clip straightened out can help remove the objects.

When printing, paper will jam/not feed through. seems like rollers not working properly.

Hello: Jen there is some type of object blocking the paper path, Usually this could be a Paper Clip or some other foreign object,. If you have small children then supect this to be the case, they love putting objects into things. I suggest u unplug the unit and carefully turn the opening where the paper feeds upside down and gently shake the printer to see if you hear anyting rattleing in side I believe the scannig door assembly comes off this unit with a cable connecting it. Just shake the unit while the opening facing floor and see if anything falls out. In my experiences I have found coins paper clips even half eaten peanut butter sandwichs..lol

Hope this helps, please leave comment for futher assistance.

Not accepting paper

Check the paper feed path for obstructions like objects that may have fallen in. Tip the machine onto its back then almost upside down and give it a bash a few times to try and dislodge anything that has fallen in.

You can try sticking the vacuum hose in to the feed tray to **** out a foreign object and the last try is to feed an A5 piece of thick card (like off the back of a shorthand pad) through the feed path the wrong way. Start at the exit rollers and feed the card back through the mechanism. Take care to keep about an inch away from the right hand side as there is a sensor flag in that corner and you don't want to snap it off.

If nothing comes out, get a service manual from this guy and remove the ASF to get better access to see what is in the way. You can then also remove and clean the pick up roller before re-assembling.
