Before you run the program, right click the icon, click on "Properties", click the "Compatibility" tab, check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then choose in the drop-down box "Windows 98 / Windows ME". You should also check "Run as Administrator" if your account is a "Standard user".

I cant get printmaster gold to work on my computer. i have windows vista

Broderbund PrintMaster Gold 16.0 is not compatible with Vista.
Platform: Windows 98 / 2000 / Me / XP

You can try to use Vista compatibility mode to run older programs in Vista. There is not guarantee that it will work!!! Please take note:- **The installation of an older program to run in a newer OS may also crash your PC too.

Link to How to "Use windows vista compatibility mode" - Use at your own risk!

Good luck.

You can try installing it in "Compatability Mode" for XP SP2 and Run As Administrator.
Windows Vista or Windows 7, has problems running some older versions of applications, just because so much has changed under the hood from Windows XP days.
To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu.
Select the Compatibility tab: Set it for "XP SP2"
You can actually hoose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility.
Probably the most useful setting to start off with would be to disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can’t get things working. If you are trying to run a video game, you will often need to choose “Run this program as an administrator”. You’ll have to play around with it, but most likely you can get your application working this way.

My game is loaded but when i click on the icon. it will not play?

Ok, from what I read on Microsoft, this software is NOT compatible with Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit. That was found directly from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=School%20Tycoon&v=Take-Two%20Interactive&uid=&pf=0&pi=5&c=PC%20Gaming&sc=Strategy&os=32-bit

However, checking the company's website, it mentions that some games that normally won't run in Windows Vista, can be ran in a "compatibility mode" which mimics Windows XP. Follow these steps and see if this corrects the problem:
  1. Right-click the shortcut for the game.
  2. Click the compatibility tab.
  3. Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode".
  4. Select Windows XP SP2 (or Windows 98 if XP does not work) from the drop down menu.
  5. Click Apply
  6. Click OK
  7. Start the game
It should run in Windows XP SP2. If it doesn't you can try Windows 98 to be sure. If neither of these work, unfortunately, you may be unable to play this game.

Pc game not compatible with my DirectX

This game is for Windows 95/98/ME. And you dont specify what is your problem. The game doesn't install? Or after installation, it doesn't run? What exactly happens?

Anyway, if you're having problems running the game, you can try to:

If you're on XP or Vista:
- Install latest Direct-X (9 or 10, according to your OS, on Win98 and ahead you can install up to Direct-X 9): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en

- If on XP/Vista, right-click on the game EXE and set compatibility mode (select properties, then compatibility, and on "compatibility mode" select to run the program as Windows 98 (try all options to see if it runs on any) - and try also the checkboxes below, to run the game in 256 color mode, on 640x480 resolution and to disable "visual themes".

Also update your graphics driver to the latest version available.

You're probably not going to find one. Vista lets you run old programs in 'compatibility mode' - actually, so does Windows XP. TSometimes it works, some times not but it's worth a try.

To use, you have to...
  1. right-click on the games' shortcut (either located on your desktop as an icon, or in Start -> All Programs).
  2. Once you right-click on the shortcut, click 'Properties'
  3. click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
  4. under the 'Compatibility mode' section, check the box that says 'Run this program in the compatibility mode for:'
  5. then choose 'windows 98' from the dropdown menu
  6. click ok when done
Good luck and I hope this helps! : )

Propellorhead ReBirth & Vista compatibility

Rebirth running on Vista - Solved !!!!!!!!

I'm running Vista Home Premium and have an old CD of Propellorhead Rebirth which I have not been able to run at all.

The answer is surprisingly simple.

1. Install as normal from the CD and leave the CD in the drive
2. Find the Rebirth folder in the 'C/Programs' directory
3. Find one of the demo songs in the installed program and create a shortcut of the demo song onto the desktop.
4. Double click the Demo song icon.
5. I am successfully running Rebirth on Vista by opening the program through the demo song
6. In addition, try right clicking the Rebirth desktop icon, then 'Properties' - 'Compatibility'
7. You should have an option for selecting XP compatibility from the drop down list of upgrade service packs. This made no difference to my situation, but may help others.

Good luck
