Hi, I was trying to get my player zone free and messed up all the value codes for my Australian player. It now says that it is region 2 or european. I can no longer play or record DVDS. Could someone possibly tell me the original values to restore my unit to region 4 please? the vaues are for options 1-8. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Belinda.
It may not be anything to do with what you were playing with on there - it may actually be the DVD deck. We had ours for only 9 months when this went, and it has just gone a 2nd time - 2 months out of warranty. This could be the cause - it comes up with the message No Disc, when there is definitely a disc in there. Don't know if this helped at all.

if its saying wrong region. then either your player or disk is incompatable. region 1 ntsc ( USA ) Region 2 ( UK ) et,c. check your players region coding is compatable for your country, and that you are also playing a dvd with the same region coding as the player. alternatively is to try and find a region free or multi-region solution.

YES, it can be changed to view all regions. I've just done my new RC388 (bought it 4 hours ago) and it works.
To start the hack: Click the home button on the remote, go to the Setup page, highlight the 16X9 TV aspect ratio and enter in this coded sequence: 1 3 9 7 1 3 9
A new factory menu now comes up on the screen.
To change the values of these options hit the enter button and scroll with arrow keys until you get to the option you want to change. For the region code hack replace the value of "option 5" with the value of: ff
(Changing this value will set unit to region code 0 which should allow any region to be played on the player.)
Now, hit the "return" button to save and exit.
Switch off the machine - switch on - all is well now.
1.Switch on unit 2.Press- Setup on the remote 3.Select the Lock option from the on screen setup menu 4.Press Lock on the remote unit ( under slide cover) 5.Press 0 7 times on the remote keypad 6.A message appears stating the unit is now Code free on the screen 7.Press Enter on the remote. 8.Close Setup menu and switch unit off. 9.Switch on and enjoy Multi-region DVD playing
please donot forget to rate this solution. Thanks for using FixYa.
I also have this annoying problem - but I bought mine new on ebay and have zero after-sales support. I have tried all the hacks I cna find over the last 12 months and when I am finished, the messages all say 'congratulations, you're now region free'. But even the local DVDs don't work. Disc ejects itself with irritating message 'unknown disc'. Does anyone have this problem who has a SALES RECEIPT from an authorised LG dealer? If so, can you jump up and down with LG until they offer a solution? Thanks!
Same as for the LG RC195. Turn on TV and player, press home key on player remote; in setup, scroll down to the padlock icon (when you get to the "padlock" option on your remote, leave it there, don't go to the menu to the right which has three options--rating, password, area code. Leave it on "lock", press 0000000 and you will be region free.
