Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with one side of the ball shell - this sounds very unusual as in normal use there should be nothing stopping it from rotating freely.

We'd appreciate the opportunity to take some further details - and if a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can confirm if this is covered under our free 5-year parts and labour guarantee.

When you have your machine to hand, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The ball on my dc25 will only rotate about half a revolution in either direction. How can I fix it?

There are different things that may cause this, you will need to inspect closely as you move the ball back and forth to see where it is hitting something. Start by making sure the exhaust filter is seated properly.

How can I access the wiring behind the plastic that connects to the motorized head?

If your model is a DC07 as stated there is not a separate motor that runs the brushroll. The brushroll spins from a belt that comes from the main motor or goes through a clutch assembly with two belts. If it is a ball model and the wires have severed you will need to replace the wire or wires with the proper replacement parts for it to work properly. I would need your model number to determine the proper wat to fix it.

I have a Dyson DC 41 and the right side of the ball (the non-filter side) won't turn freely; it still turns but feels stuck and the filter side has no issues. Is there a way to remove the ball shell...

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you've described sounds very unusual. Both halves of the ball shell include bearings, and should rotate freely on the axle. If you can't see anything obvious that could be jamming it, I would encourage you to contact us directly for some help.

Just to make you aware, dismantling the machine any further than is shown in the User guide could void your Dyson warranty, so we would advise you not to try to remove the ball shell without contacting us for advice.

When you have your DC41 easily to hand, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Our experts will talk you through some simple troubleshooting checks, and may be able to resolve the issue right over the phone. If not, they can discuss your options for repair.

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

The ball on my Dyson DC25 doesn't turn: it's as if it's stuck . How do I release it?

Make sure the filter cover is on properly. If you can't see what is restricting the ball from turning. You might have to take it to a Dyson service center.

DC15 - beater bar is not rotating

There is a tiny motor for the bar itself at the side of the bar you will see tiny slits which is the vent for the motor which is most likely burned out and will need a replacement.

When switched on the brushes dont go round and it wont **** up but when i use the handle to clean theres suction there does this model have a belt?

it has a brushroll and transmission i think. turn the top screw and rotate til the end of the nozzle comes off. then pull the brushroll out from each side see if the shafts on the transmission are rotating and also check the inside of the brushrolls for wear and stripping where the shaft is inserted. could also very possibly be the brushroll switch on the top. there is also a small switch on that turns the brushroll on when the ball cradle retracts back. those sometimes go bad. Ive also encountered where the wires that run inside the ball housing snap. they are very low gauge wires. you will need a T10, T15, and a T20 to get into the upper and lower switch assemblies

While operating machine, brush does not rotate. Button is pushed in, all hair cleaned off brush. Is there a reset button? Where is it located?

Likely the wires are broken under the left hand cover not a difficult fix. Unplug the machine and remove the 4 torx screws and an access panel at the side of the ball. replace wires with new or re-connect with a splice. ensure wires are long enough to allow movement and you don't trap the wires when you replace the covers. about a 20 min job with the right tools
