- Message says Black ink has run out but I just put a new "refilled" cartridge in and it is full. I have used these before and they have always worked. I was wondering if there is some way I can "reset" whatever is causing the message. Pressing down the reset button for 5 seconds doesn't do anything.

- Still blinking when cover is open. I have turned it on and off quite a few times and hit the reset button more. Have taken the cartridges out and back in. Maybe I should dump the iP6600D!!
Kindly go through the link. Where have you read this error is "due to black ink".
Please clarify, so that we can solve the problem.
Unless , i would appreciate if you can contact Canon or Local tech. It might happen, if you are using the product first time.
Thanks for using 'Fixya'.

- Hi,
The meaning of the above error :-
The ink has run out (The lamp on the ink tank flashes).
Replace the ink tank, and close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).
If
printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press [OK]
with the ink tank installed. Then printing can continue under the ink
out condition. Replace the empty ink tank immediately after the
printing. The machine may be damaged if printing is continued under the
ink out condition.
Note
If multiple ink tank lamps
are flashing red, check how fast they flash. Fast flashing (at about
one second interval) indicates the ink is empty. Slow flashing (at
about three second interval) indicates ink is low. For details on
different flashing speeds, see Knowing When to Replace Ink Tank.
Print head is not installed./The type of print head is incorrect. Follow the directions given in the Easy Setup Instructions to install the Print Head.
If the Print Head is already installed, remove the Print Head and reinstall it.
If this error still remains, the Print Head may be damaged. Contact a Canon service representative.
Inner cover is open. Close the inner cover and press [OK]./Open the inner cover, place the CD-R tray and press [OK]. If the Inner Cover is open when starting normal printing, close it before pressing [OK] on the machine.
If
the Inner Cover is closed when starting DVD/CD printing, open it with
the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) closed and set the CD-R Tray before
pressing [OK] on the machine.
Do not open or close the Inner Cover when printing. This may damage the machine.

My IP6600d has suddenly refused to print, saying 'the following ink tank cannot be recognised'. It says its the yllow cartridge, which is half used and a genuine canon item. I have tried taking it out and reinserting it, switching the printer on and off, all to no avail. I can't even run a cleaning cycly as it just won't do anything. What do I do?
