We have an Acer PD 726w that has worked for 3 years, but now all of the sudden the picture quality is poor. There is a purple hue that distorts the image quality.

Alot of people are having image quality problems with there projectors. I had a similar problem recently. You simply need to get it cleaned. Sometimes there is a high dust build up inside the optical prism of a projector which distorts the image over time.

I had mine cleaned out by TP Matrix Projector repairs after there were lots of coloured dots on the image.
They gave a free quote and then the service was quite a decent price in comparison to others.
have it checked out for a free quote and see what they can do. there number is 0161 626 4067.

My 51" sony rear projector has blue shadow on image. pictures are fine but it has blue shadow. how can I fix that?

Clean the mirror or the blue color gun. You may have it next to a powerful magnet from a speaker system that can also distort the blue. If thats not it it may be bad convergence ICs

My hitachi cpx 443 lcd projector recently has been projecting blue dots everywhere on the screen, how can I fix this or what is the problem?

How defined are the dots? Is each blue dot limited to the size of a pixel? I suggest you create a 3 slide image in powerpoint ..one slide completely blue, 1 red and one green. then project each image in turn and note what happens with the blue dot. My first thoughts are you have some pixels that are locked. Once that happens if are pretty much stuck with them. Optical it is impossible for a dust on the lens etc to cause them as if the picture is in focus at the screen the dust is way out of the depth of the field, sometimes you can focus the projector so that the point of focus is the lens surface but then the actual content will be way out of focus...none of which has anything to do with your blue dots. Colors are distorting e.g. Blue streak across top of viewing field

unfortunately not. the discoloration is caused by the light filter getting fried due to excessive dust and heat. and you cannot purchase the parts individually. you'll have to replace the entire optical engine.

Random dots and no picture

Okay, I had the same problem exactly.

You can't fix it yourself. I took it to the NEC lab and they changed a card. luckily it was covered by the warranty.

Distorted Color and geometry of Picture

I've posted this solution several times but here goes. Try setting up the convergence through the menu by accessing the convergence setup menu. If this fails to work you have a bad digital convergence box and need a tech to replace it. About $60 to $100 fix.
