Question about Polaroid Televison & Video
These products are fragile and prone to failures of many kinds due their internal complexity.
If it is still under warranty you should have it repaired by their authorized facility.
It may reset and start working again. Unplug the power adapter and remove the batteries for a period of at least 30 minutes; then try it again.
If the reset does not help it means there is a mechanical or electronic failure. There are many possibilities and it is impossible to know without doing some testing of the unit by skilled hands. The usual or most common problem when these symptoms occur is a weak or dead laser diode (which is mounted inside the optical pickup assembly). Since the laser cannot read the data on the disc the servo mechanism thinks there is no disk in the unit and shuts down the drive motor.
Replacing the laser diode is very expensive and it requires the entire optical pickup to be replaced and realigned. And, you may have to wait several days for the replacement parts and repair. It is NOT something you can do at home. Cost will be in the range of $150; maybe less if you can get a shop that knows the Polaroid models and has done one before.
since this unit is less than $200 new, it may not be a wise investment for repair.
Hope i helped you.
