Re: Computer can't find my camara
If it doesnt recognize the device it means that the driver is not compatible find a suitable driver ...this happens when the driver was for vista and you use xp ...or otherwise...or ...maybe you just do not installed it proper.. please let me know the operating system you use and the camera model ...and I will find a solution ...also ...take a better look on the camera cd sometimes it has drivers for all operating ...systems and install the right one ... If it has its own programs for managing pictures install that too and use the import feature from the program ...if you do not have a cd ...but only the driver ..install an acdsee picture manager and use the import from device feature from there ...it has to work

try going to my computer, then selecting under "devices with removable storage" the one that says coolpix, camara, something along those lines. mine says "nikon D40". double click on that (if it's there) and that should be it. mine doesnt autoplay either.

try uploading your pictures using your friend's similar datacable.. if you are able to do it then the problem lies with your cable.replace it. if the computer still doesnt recognize your camera try using a memory card reader and you can easily upload your pictures through it.. hope your problem is tackled. thanks for using fixya!. please dont forget to rate my solution.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
Make sure you have a program for that specific camera when you plug it into the computer If you don't have it or it still isn't working.. Try opening My Computer And selecting the correct drive to open It should show up on My Computer as long as the device is plugged into the usb port
Well i have the motorola v6 maxx and it came with a disc and software to put it on but you can try a different way. Open my computer and there should be a removable device as if it was a flash drive or (usb stick) double click on the icon and then click on DCIM or any other folder until you find DCIM which stands for digital camera images and just cut or copy and past into theh folder you want
If this doesnt work let me know cause i might have another way :)
i try to upload photos from my nikon coolpix p50 to 'my pictures' by using my usb cord. it always used to work but not now. something pops up that says "please make sure the device is turned on and properly connected to the computer." i used the the same usb cord as before when it worked.
