Sanyo 25DN1 standby problem

Hi I have an old sanyo 25dn1 TV. It has suddenly stopped turning on. I can place the tv into standby and the red LED lights as normal, however when I try to bring it out of standby (eitherr via remote control or using front panel) the TV will not turn on and the LED flashes intermitantly.
Anybody offer advice on solutions to rectify this problem? - is it possible / feasible to try and repair it myself? if what sort of cost do you think it would be?

Thanks in advance any help MASSIVLY appreciated.

    Hi Stonephoenix

Thank you very much for your reply and advice.

To be honest the TV is a secondary one in my office and is about 15yrs old so i assume it is out of warranty!! lol lol.

Your advice has been very helpful and i think I will be looking at buying a new TV as the potential costs for repair are going to be more than the TV is worth.

Again thanks for guiding me in the right direction. I have given you thumbs up etc...

    Regards

    Gordon

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need a power supply module. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher. I would not suggest or recommend trying to repair the TV yourself.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Sanyo TV turns on and works but standby light not working

Do you mean that the standby LED does not light up; but the set works fine? Of so, either the standby LED is damaged, or it do not get voltage [due to loose soldering or some other reason]. Anyway, the set works fine. Isn't it. It means that there is no other fault than this. Contact any service technician in this case; to find out the reason. Electro help

If the VCR button lights up when you press the Power button, you are not in the correct mode to operate the TV. If the remote is programmed correctly, when you are in SAT mode, you can press the large RED button to turn your receiver off/on. The RED TV button will turn your TV off/on. I have provided links to program your remote to your TV again. I have also provided codes for your Sanyo TV.

Instructions to program your remote to your TV (begin with step 6):

Here are the TV codes: 590, 683, 589, 542, 652

I hope this helps.

Too much green color

Problem solved. I tried playing DVD and the TV picture was fine. So I double-checked cable wires from cable box - one of the wires was loose (obviously it was the red color input). After tightening, the TV picture is good as new.
